Currently, I have 2 peafowl and 6 doves. A few months ago a cooper's hawk decided to pay an interesting visit to my yard in the late afternoon. Oh dear. That's gruesome... As for mine, they were developing cuts in their skin, particularly in the places of joints. I'm not sure how they got them, but I believe the resulting bacterial infection caused the swelling, and somehow blood flow got cut off from one and that part of the toe just... -

Thanks for your advice. I've looked online yea, and found just bumblefoot and frostbite, and nothing much. I'm assuming its because of a bacterial infection, and I'm giving him amoxi, so i'll continue feeding him half a capsule per day. I'll also try your vaseline method. Thanks for your... -

I put them in a cardboard box with paper towels covering them during the night. They stay in a chicken wire cage I made for them during the day, and I let them out for 3-4 hours each day. -

That's unlikely. he didn't show any symptoms in the previous evening, except not flying towards his usual perch. -

@KsKingBee I did it, and his neck is perfectly intact, oddly. I do remember that every time it gets to around 7pm he usually would fly up to the high point of my backyard, the roof cover of a custom swing set, but yesterday he did not do this. -

@casportpony There are diseases that can kill a bird from 11pm to 8am... that's... is there any way to prevent them? What are some examples? As for the necropsy, I find it hard to know that my bird is going to just get cut open. I prefer to just bury him. 😞 -

Unfortunately I don’t think I even have a vet around here that will look at birds. I’ve seen cat and dog vets but that’s it. And yea I checked and it’s not gapeworm. Luckily He’s gotten much better now, though, periodically he still does his head shake thing, and is weak in the legs. He would...
