Our Hen House
est. 2008
Here's the coop Hubby and I built on the fly. No real plans, just some great advice from my Dad (a real carpenter, although too ill to physically help us). We did'nt do too bad for "novice" builders. I think I smashed every finger with the hammer at least once though...
Separate her from the others. Keep her warm and in a darker area. I put mine in a dog kennel in the house with a towel draped over most of it. Then you can moniter her food intake and bowel movements more accurately.
Check her vent for eggbound. Search this site and there is tons of info on the...
you might try soaking him in a warm bath. Just hold his bottom end under water for about ten minutes or so. the warmth may relax him and soften the clog. then dry him and put him back under the lamp.
I'm no Vet, but it could'nt hurt to try.
good luck.
I have 24 chickies a 21x14 run. It is too small.
As big as you can go is best, unless you can free range them like I do. Mine can't wait to get out when I get home. I think chickens get bored in one place all day.
As far as windows, I'd put in at least two.
Good luck
It sounds like you are doing all the right things for her. She sounds very weak. Try a little sugar in her water or a chopped up boiled egg.
(My mom used to do that when I was a kid and we were raising turkeys) Hopefully, someone else will answer with more ideas.
Take Care

If you have to order from a hatchery do it early, they are usually behind on orders in the spring...
As far as your hens injury, check your local feed store for a product called "Blood Stop" it's a powder to stops bleeding. You could also put a dab of "Bag Balm" on it.
I think your rooster needs to go. He is reaching sexual maturity and will pick out his "favorite" ladies.
I got rid of mine and things are much more peaceful now.
There is a BYC user on this site "Rooster-Red" that has a great page on rooster behavior.
My cats do this all the time. The other night they brought in a bat! and turned it loose in the house, what a chore that was!
What I arm myself with is a clear container and a pair of tongs. (the kind you use to turn food while cooking) Then try and corner the mouse or trap it under the...
