Yes Miss Lydia. When the parents are released in the morning across the barnyard from the goose shack, the first thing they do is go say hello. Then they leave and go to the pond and forage.
The goslings are taken out 2-3 times a day to forage. Most times the parents come for visits. That’s...
I have hatched 10, and counting Chinese geese. I’ve noticed that during their daily walks from their outdoor nursery, the head gander Humphrey has taken up the role as their protector from the moms.
A couple of the goslings have reached 2 months now and show interest in joining the gaggle...
I understand that some have still lost animals with geese as guards, but once we accumulated ours - we went from an animal a week loss to none in over 6 months now. I’m not saying it won’t happen. But when coyotes start gearing up around here, so do the geese. The Goose Shack is about 400 yards...
I’ve been hatching my goslings then indoor brooding them for 4 weeks in a rather large laundry/pet sink in our utility room. After about 24-36 hours - you can walk out of our master suite and the smell at the other end of the house will smack you in the face. Gulp down 1/2 a cup of coffee and go...
We have had these beauties for almost a year now. They live alongside our Chinese with little complaint until breeding season came along.
My husband posted asking for help when Tango hurt her foot. He had hoped for help with her but we managed when we discovered she did indeed hurt it in a...
Hit the ground running this morning with a tall yeti of coffee. Missed the pours. Have 2 lavender Orpington hens due to hatch any time now-each has a goose egg  That’s going to be an interesting exchange. Another lavender called Bertie the B who likes to brood in 2 nest at the same time...
Hey cafe gang. Finally had 2 days of NO rain. Hubby getting a lot of dirt moved from the front of barn pad. :weeRain supposed to return for a few more days. Has got to be the wettest winter on record here in Arkansas. At least I found where the ducks started laying.
Time for a cup of decafe and...
Good morning everyone! Getting around late myself here. After a nice sunny day yesterday the shock of it all wore me out :lau It’s going to take several cups to get me going this morning.
Time to put the ark tools away I hope.
Oh thank you so much for replying! :yesss:
We’re unsure of bumblefoot.
He told me that the swelling had gone down some. She seemed to be walking on it easier when I looked in on her at noon. He said she was walking on it even easier by evening when they went to bed. He did however pick her up...
She was still limping some but managed to get to the pond and to her egg nest today to open them up to sun.
Wondering if she might have turned it wrong?
Again...Thanks in advance for any advice. :)
Hi gang! This is Arkychickdude’s Mrs. 🤗
He was out there when he noticed her limping up near the barn. The ducks were ready to go to bed so when he let them in and went to close the gate she trotted/limped further down closer to the pond.
She, Tango, was no where near the rest of the gaggle...
Well the incubator room attitude is not going well at all. At least for Ms Looney.
Daily meetings with the new kids is a fiasco to say the least. I just candled the geese eggs before turning at 21 days and they’re looking great. I sure hope she’s adapted to new kids by then 😬
I wish I had seen this thread earlier. It’s been fun catching up.
We have 3 White Chinese geese named Kate, Lauren, and Becall...Yes movie names to encourage love ❤️:love Then there is the White Chinese genders named Leopold for Kate,(yeah that didn’t work out), and Humphrey for Lauren and...
