Yes- a muzzle would be great! For now I carry a stick and wear boots!
Pico, my female with the swollen eye seems to be doing a little better. We have been rinsing it 2 x a day with warm water and this morning we were able to see that the eye ball is still there, thank goodness!

Our 2 Ancona males, that we hatched in January, have become so aggressive with me, that I have to carry a stick when I go outside. They chase me no matter where I am and inch my feet, legs and hands. I am the only one they do this to, they leave my husband alone. Yesterday we noticed one of the...
Our pekins are doing great! We have had them home for one week now and they have settled in to their flock! I will try to get some pictures soon!
Chelsea- glad to hear you were able to find homes for everyone!
Take care!

I was able to sex our anconas by voice at about 3 weeks. the color and size are variable. The males didn't get their drake feathers until almost 4 months.
I just want to add that picking them up and holding them helps...they usually get kind of irritated and can't hold back their quacks!
We got our WH last week from holderreads. I am slightly irritated because out of 11 i think we only got 3 maybe 4 females.
Sorry that you are having such a hard time. We had a similar situation last spring and I put 3 drakes on Craigs List (free to a good home) and I had no trouble getting rid of them (and I was picky!).
We had a pekin come down with these same symptoms at 4 weeks. we took her to the vet, treated with antibiotics and she never quite recovered. because she couldn't really walk, we were never able to introduce her to the rest of the flock. we ended up putting her down at 4 months, which was heart...
I could sex mine at 3 weeks. the females have an obvious "quack" and the males are still kind of squeeky. It is especially obvious when I pick them up and they are irritated!
Good luck! They won't get drake feathers until about 4 months or so.....
Welcome to the world of ducks! Your Pekin looks to be about 3-4 weeks old? Mine are 3 weeks old and you can see the flight feathers just coming in on the wings. Keep your eye on them in the pool as they can get water logged pretty easily.
We have a similar set up with dog kennels. My husband...
Hi there-
We have begun to clear an area in the back of our property for 3 alpacas which we will be getting from a nearby farm.
My question is about acorns. What I have seen has said that eaten in large quantities, they can be bad. Does anyone have any experience or have some information...
Here are some updated photos of the babies...and our 2 year old Pekin, Mango. We ended up with 2 boys and 2 girls.
Dos- week 8 - Male and the largest
Pico- week 8 - female- the littlest
Thanks Terrie.
We are liming the feed because one duckling got so big, so fast, it is as if she has trouble walking.
They are tons of space to get out of the heated area.
We appreciate the responses.
