I have 2 Xtra large barred Rock hens that are by far my largest birds in the yard. Both these girls are still laying well but have been having chronic nasty butts with large fecal clumps stuck on a regular basis for a couple months. I thought it was just because there fluffy butts but after...
Just one too many roosters here. He is 8-9 months old, calm and nice to the girls. Free to a good home. Located in Nineveh IN 46164. ( 30 mins south of Indianapolis) no shipping.
This boy is just one too many for me,,no fault of his. 8-9 months old.He is very calm and nice to the girls. Free to a good home. We are located in Nineveh IN 46164. (30 mins south of Indianapolis) no shipping.
I have done this several times. As long as there isn't a significant size difference then I've not had issues. Just be sure not add a single chick to the group. That would be asking for the new one to get picked on because everyone will be focused on it.
How long has it been since the first egg hatched? And since you noticed the one egg cracked? Do you have any idea on how long they have been incubated by the broody?
Thank you for your time. I think you are right. He will have good care, he is our only roo and he will have a bunch of girls to entertain. I'll post pictures of him after he gets all fixed up. Thanks again.
I've heard of hens crowing and asserting dominance. But I've not seen one crow, mate, tid bit calling for the girls to get treats and keep a watch out while they graze. I wasn't sure if maybe his rough care has damaged his feathers. I will just have to wait it out I think. Thank you for your...
This is the pullet they sold me as a BRAHMA. Lol.. I told them no she wasn't. And They said they were confused and said they meant Delaware. She is supposed to be 4 months.
They don't seem to have been very truthful with much. He is crowing, dominating and attempting to breed with the pullet I got with him. His feathers are in bad shape, like ruffed up and broke. When they met me, he was in a bed of the truck with the cold 2 degree wind hitting him when they took...
I bought this boy for $5 from someone who placed an order for surprise chicks and they got alot of roos. They had no idea what he is. About 5 months old. They said they guess he is Plymouth Rock, but I don't think. What are your thoughts?? These pictures might make him look laced, but he...
How adorable. Does your bunny live with the chickens 24/7? How much area do they share together? We have thought of this before but never wrapped my head around how it works with the different life styles they have.
I have to fight the urge. I have a momma that's gone broody and i hate to let that go to waste. It makes me want to get her fertile eggs. My rooster is to young for me to have fertile eggs at this point. But no I will fight this urge, my grow out pen is in use right now anyways.. but it won't be...
I do so far. We used to buy bagged mulch, so expensive when you need so much! We just started getting it for free from a tree cutting company. My husband just swings by with his truck after work and they dump a load in his bed. It smells so good and fresh like pine trees.
It's finally a nice day outside and I took some pictures of some of the birds while I was feeding and watering everyone.
The coop my husband built for us when we moved into our new house earlier this year.
Grow out pen for babies getting acclimated or broodies that don't want to be with the...
