Growth on leg, swollen abdomen, waddling

❤️ Thank you! Let’s hope she stays that way. I’ve read I’ll have to continue to drain her every couple of months

Growth on leg, swollen abdomen, waddling

I wanted to update this thread. She had ascites (or water belly). I ordered an 18 gauge needle and a 30cc syringe. After sterilizing the area, I found her vent, went three inches down and slightly to the right (watch videos on water belly) to drain the fluid. I pulled out over a cup of fluid and...

If she had bumblefoot, could it be related to her swollen abdomen?

Growth on leg, swollen abdomen, waddling

It’s fairly firm. Perhaps I could try an epsom bath soak. I feel like I waited too long thinking it was the spur :(

Growth on leg, swollen abdomen, waddling

I got it done at UNH. Their prelim diagnosis was also mareks, but I did the test to be sure and it came back negative! Now that this one seems like she is having issues as well I am wondering

Growth on leg, swollen abdomen, waddling

Hello - I have a 1+ year old chicken who looks to have grown a spur like growth on one of her legs. She’s been slightly limping for the past couple months and I thought it was due to this. She tries desperately to stay away from me. She’s starting to really slow down now so I caught her the...

Is my chicken ok now?? Help please

Two days ago, I noticed this leghorn wheezing. She had a runny nose and was sneezing (video taken outside in link). It had been rainy and then super windy here in New England the previous two days. I took her inside where she has been for 2 nights. She seems much better, but I obviously want to...

Comment by 'Emak2323' in article 'Fermenting Chicken Feed: A Straightforward Method'

Yes! I’ve been adding fermented feed to My chicks diet for about a month and a half now to get them through the winter with some more support. They are in love with the fermented food. I use yogurt containers to fill and they devour them. I’m always so surprised they usually don’t knock the...

    Coccidiostats in poultry feed

To be clear, that’s not the only reason I thought that as I found the 1/2 tsp dosage on a few other sites as well. no they are not. They have foamy yellow poop

    Coccidiostats in poultry feed

Haha right, meaning that chickens are a lot smaller than calves, so they logically would need less. The other poster put up an explanation of how they got to 1&1/2 tsp though

    Coccidiostats in poultry feed

Where are you seeing that dosage? On the Corid site for infection they say 3/4 tsp/gallon for calves.

    Coccidiostats in poultry feed

I found the dosage to read as 1/2 tsp per gallon water when using the powder.

    Heated water in Winter

I have the stock tank de-icer but it makes their water all funky, with white gel like substances clinging to the heater and murking up the water. I called the company and they said this was normal. Is this your experience too?
