I just crossed a rir hen with a faverolle rooster they should start hatching next Friday. Im not sure how they will turn out I could post pics when they hatch.
can anyone tell me what are these black sores on my chickens combs and wattles? they have been there for a couple weeks. and all 27 of my chickens have them.
Well guess what after 19 weeks 3 day I finally picked my first egg today! It was pretty exciting. now I have one chicken laying an 23 more to go, hopefully they wont wait to long. Goodluck to everyone still waiting on that first egg it well worth the wait.
Thanks I guess I should do something to correct it. Im pretty tolerant of it cause she not that big she cant hurt me any kind of way I usually just give her a good leg fling if that makes any sence. not in any kind of way that would hurt her though and she doesnt come bac for more. all the rest...
Hey everyone,
Here for the count down I have 24 RIR pullets that are 19 weeks old tom. they arent showing any sign of laying, besides the 4 or 5 that their combs and waddles are getting bigger and red. I have one hen in particular out the bunch that has gotten really aggressive toward me...
I have a hanging feeder that I made out of a 5 gallon bucket it hold about 30 lbs of feed i keep it filled up and let them eat a will. I have always the same thing donrae said that they wont over eat.
I have 27 chickens and they go through a 50 pound sack of grower in a week and a half some times 2 weed depending on much table scraps they get. ive been throwing in some scratch daily as a treat and its helped out a little bit.
if you are getting day old chicks you will have to keep a heat lamp on them for a while. they need to be at 90 to 95 degrees for the first week and then drop 5 degrees every week after that until they are fully feathered.
Well im a big hunter and it def doesnt bother me to cull a chicken especially to put it in a gumbo. But i have to say i would never drown one that just seems torturous.
I just put down about 4 inches of river sand in my coop yesterday and so far im loving it. its dry, it smells a lot better, and my chickens are getting the grit they need.
