Ideas for tractors - i started out w/ a typical hoop coop made of 2 cattle panels (been using CP for horses since we had our 1st ones in CO in 1976). It was on a wood frame w/ a 2x2" frame out for the door. No wheels & skipped the step of adding angle supports to the corners. That worked great...
WOW! I was able to read a whole thread before commenting.
Then I realized that nothing more was written up...
So, where did you go with your ideas? Did you build? Did you find plans for a tractor you like & use? What kind of chickens did you get?
I imagine that a 10'x10' tractor would be...
Actually, you have the start of DLM in your coop just like in the run.
Add different sizes & types of natural materials. Unless you are very dry at this time of year, I would not put grass clippings in there (they are wet). If dry, add them & maybe even dump waterers in it. The different...
Since others have adressedcthe chicken issues, I'll just link a video regarding composting.
Sean, Edible Acres, is in New York. Not sure where as compared to your location. They have both a YouTube channel & a website. He does extensive composting using the chickens.
He has also...

It worked great for us until a full size horse hit one section of fence full tilt. She bounced off the 6 lines of high tensile wire uninjured. But at least 3 of the corner t-posts went airborne, straight out of the ground like missiles. I...
At one point, I had lots of purple for the ponies. Here's a pic of Blizzard - foaled outside in a 3' snowbank while I was working w/ a mare & foal 2 miles up the road... Yes this was in NC in 2000.
Our website hasn't been updated yet, but ive gotten it back live & you can see our farm...
Yeah today has been weird... I totally typed a HUGE blog earlier in reference to music I like, when topic was
Songs that make your skin crawl. (Bashing head on wall.)
I did not delete that though. Added an edit instead...

************** EDIT ************** & then I realized I did this whole post backwards
Sticking my head back in the sand...
Some of these items, I knew nothing about. I now have much research...
Would love both to have/bring in solar power. Especially now that we've gotten used to air conditioning & steady heat. Would really like it with incubating eggs & having chicken brooders. Also, we are filling our freezers...

Still, the question then becomes - where did the pattern on white chick come from (Cruella?)?

I have owned Splash Ameraucana - each feather was a solid color. The many white ones were solid white, the blue feathers (grey) were...
Honestly - sometimes using rubber tubs that can be dumped every night (dumped into bowl that's taken inside) is best. Bring water out in the AM, give a last, warmed drink before bringing it in at night.
And leave rubber tub upside down overnight.
Or... there is a way to use earth thermo...
I am so glad that worked out for you!
Here in NC, I havent recently checked on tax exempt status. It used to be, you needed to fill out paperwork. Similar to your form but last I did it, it was 3 pages.
Then you hit the portion you had to enter your tax farm ID #. Ive never been set up for...
I was surprised by the answers. I hope one or the other works for you.
Our ducks used thier water to wash thier nares while feeding. Even if feed was across the pen or in a different area, they dropped feed into thier water & water into thier feed.
Eventually we always used an open tub for...
