These's are my two pullet's EE's. They have just started laying
and I'm thrilled with the greenish and blueish eggs. I always
wanted some of the chickens and was thrilled when a
variety of eggs given to us for a broody hen turned out to be
eggers. I think they turned out beautiful. In the top...
One of my chickens has recently started laying in my stand of lily's. I found two eggs there today. When I let the girls out today one went right to that spot and as soon as she left the nest spot another promptly went in and aslo laid there. Its been happening more since i started letting them...
back to your origimal question. I have a chicken that went broody and is stitting on a few eggs, but I'm concerned about her as her comb has become quite light. Is she sick and what can I do for her
My suggestion would be to go to the coop pages and look over them real good if you haven't already, as there are so many good ideas.I don't think there is anything you can't learn from those pages. If you haven't done it, give it a try,
Your coop is great. I find this whole chicken experience lots of fun. We love them in our yard. This is the first year we have not had a big problem with earwigs and other bugs and spiders in on our patio. All either my husband or myself have to do is walk outside and they come running. Great fum.
I love this site, it really helped me to decide how I wanted to build our coop. I also really enjoy the forum and every one's ideas, comments, and advice. Thanks for building this site.
This is a small coop I bought from a friend, and decided to use it as a nursery after we built a new coop. One hen has already raised young in there and another has gone broody so I will put her and her nest in there after I do what I can to rid it off the lice I discovered the hard way today...
We put 16 inch plywood boards under our three roosts that we had covered with linolium. Wraping it around the board. It works great and I can even take them our every couple of months and really clean them off good with clorox water. I really like them this way. I scrap them off every few weeks...
Can anyone tell me what I can spray, or what I can do. to rid my nursery coop of Chicken Lice? I need to get it done soon. I have a broody hen that needs to go in there. And I just discovered it has lice kinda bad.
Thanks to those who responded, this was our first hatch, but it was also our hens first hatch. So I guess all in all it wasn't to bad. I was just hoping for more. Our hen is a barred rock. Shes been a good mother. Its so fun to watch her teach them to eat and especially to watch her teach them...
What is the average of eggs that you have either had a broody hen sit on and hatch or even incubated that have hatched?
My hen set on 13 eggs and after breaking some as she moved around, and some that actualy hatched and died and two eggs
that just did not hatch for one reason or another. We...
