20 week pullet back of head pecked

I'd just get some antibiotic spray in there. That's always worked for my hens. Good luck!

20 week pullet back of head pecked

Does it go any deeper, or does it just look like a surface wound? If it's a surface wound, some antibiotic spray should help infection, which is always my main concern once they get over shock, or iodine if you want. Keeping it clean will do wonders.

Turkey Chick With Broken Leg. Help!

Hi. So, yesterday afternoon, my turkey chick got attacked by the male turkey, and I'm 99% sure it's leg is broken. It's the upper left leg, and the rest of the leg is just dangling. It can hop, but not with out falling every four hops, and it sits kind of on it's side. I'm not sure if there are...

My Flock Is Slowly Dying Off.... HELP!!!!!

How do I treat for coccidiosis? I seem they are too far gone to move, but they walked fine yesterday. So I'm thinking it's either coccidiosis or *gulp* Mereks. One of my hens legs are like that. Can I fix that? Can I even prevent it?

My Flock Is Slowly Dying Off.... HELP!!!!!

Just found another sick hen. Change the title to "My Flock Is Dying Off Fast". The twop hens I pulled out earlier seem okay now. Could it be the heat? It's 33 degrees celcius. (91 farenheit). The two have been given electrolytes. My rooster is still unwell, but I think that must be his eye. Why...

    Help! injured chick

Apple cider and garlic will definitely help, but a substitute for electrolytes is a sports drink like powerade or Gatorade. I would personally keep her inside. Bad weather will not help her at all. If you can, bring her mother and sibling in so she doesn't get lonely or cold. She might just be a...

My Flock Is Slowly Dying Off.... HELP!!!!!

My girls are all different ages. I have month old chicks to my 8 year old rooster, but majority are 2-3 yo. The most recent hens I have brought in were about 2 months ago. Is a necropsy like an autopsy? What is Mareks?? It seems to come up a lot.

My Flock Is Slowly Dying Off.... HELP!!!!!

The rooster and turkey were in the same pen as the rest of the flock when it happened. They have 2 roosters, but this was their favorite. I don't actually have any eggs, as my chooks are free loaders. Is there anything else I can give them for protein?

My Flock Is Slowly Dying Off.... HELP!!!!!

About a week ago, my rooster was attacked by a turkey, and lost his right eye. Now he's down and can't get up. I went out to feed the rest of my flock, and two of my girls were down as well. I lost a girl last week to the same thing. The timeline is-They aren't as energetic, that's when I...

    Sick Trio

Cheeky passed away 2 hours ago. About an hour ago, Pinkie looked like she was going the same way. I was holding her head up, she was just too weak. We had dug a hole for her, and I was just holding her till it actually happened. I was just asking my cousin if the hole was ready, when she started...

    Sick Trio

My hen (Jack) and her chicks have been living in the pig pen for a few weeks. We lost a chick yesterday of hers, and I put it down to "It happens sometimes". Looking back, that was idiotic. A few hours ago, I went out to check my hen and her chicks and they were fine. I went out a few minutes...

Help! Native Birds Killing My Chicks!

Kookaburras are relentless. My hen chased them half a dozen times before he got one of her chicks. I have one covered run already, made after the kookaburra incident. The problem is I have 3 hens with chicks and 3 more hens broody, and none of them get along. :-/

    Nesting Boxes

I used golf balls, and mower catchers. My hens were in there from the start, and when they started laying, I never got an egg on the ground. And the hens I raised from chicks did the same thing. My hens won't lay if they feel exposed, so a deep box on it's side might help with that. The buckets...
