She came from atwood's so i'm assuming low quality hatchery purebred. I have a few clean faced EEs but she's nothing like them. I've just never seen the coloration.
Okay so I knew what these two were but I guess not they're 7 weeks. So I initially thought the first one was a white japanese bantam but she has a pea comb, and has these buff spots (lacing?) and most of her chest she's not white tho it's a really pale grey (like really pale lavender)
So I got 7 chicks from atwood's 4 weeks ago 4 were supposed to be pullets but two of them are looking suspiciously like cockerels.
Brown leghorn pullet (i'm 99% positive it's not)
Silver laced wyandotte pullet (I can't tell on this one at all she's always been bigger than the others and her...
i've been told, I figured both eyes would swell up rather than just one? I'm hoping it's just a little infection that needs cleaned out. I'll definitely be keeping a close eye on him either way.
I got this chick from atwood's last night and has a very wonky eye, anyone know what it is or a cure? He's the liveliest of the bunch which seems weird if he's in pain.
I have two beautiful polish boys that I’m already having a hell of a time rehoming FOR FREE! Nobody wants boys in my area unfortunately, I’ve slaughtered 5/7 already #6 got lucky because I couldn’t stomach any more, it’s a huge pain without a defeathering thing otherwise it wouldn’t be too bad...
*Please no bashing on me for this if you don’t like the way roosters are done away with don’t read or comment, thanks*
This is a question to mainly breeders and hobby hatchers, my hatchling cockerel to pullet ratio is awful only about 3 pullets out of the 13 I’ve hatched so far. I want to hatch...
The “amerucauna” is an Easter Egger, they both are pullets and they should start laying at about 20 weeks (6 months) the RIR will lay nice brown eggs and the EE anything from brown to blue!
Ooh lavenders are gorgeous you’ll have to be somewhat selective in your breeding program so you don’t end up with the curse of the lavender feathers, which is just some weird breakage. I’m also pretty sure in the amerucauna breed standard is referred to as “self-blue”. Are you planning on...
If you have and a roo(s) they will mate lol. If your specifically breeding certain birds then you should have a “breeding pen” mainly if you have multiple roosters if only one then make sure you know whose eggs are whose depending on what you’d like to hatch. You will see and hear them breed...
Candle it with a bright flashlight and if you see movement/darkness it’s alive. Was a broody hen sitting on it? I’d check the rest too if it’s peeping it should be around day 21
