Hi brahma peeps! Posting to subscribe and say hello. I am pretty new to poultry (1st year) but it has been a great journey! I have tried a few breeds this year but my hands down favourite is the bantam brahma! My son uses a beautiful buff pullet (she is in my avatar) for APA showmanship and does...
Unfortunately, Peck Peck passed away last night. This is our first chicken death. Two sad kids and a sad mom today :(
Thanks for all of your ideas and concern.
I forgot about this thread! Must update! Meatball is indeed a partridge wyandotte bantam! A lovely one at that. I think I will show her in the spring. Was going to put her in at thanksgiving (which is mod-October here) but her tail is still not all the way in. I will get some pictures tomorrow.
I did contact the seller. He had no idea. I do believe him. He is a very high level breeder/showman in my province and the two birds I got from him were favours I asked of him...to be APA showmanship birds for my two children.
She seems more comfortable now, but still droopy. Panting has...
Unfortunately, she has gone from bad to worse. She is now panting and has droopy wings. Won't move. This would be easier of I knew more about her, but I've only had her for a day! I have not seen her straining to lay an egg, nor does she have a runny nose. Still won't eat, and now has stopped...
Hi!
Yesterday I picked up two nice show quality birds. One is a white silkie hen. I picked them up at a show. The silkie was very docile and I didn't think much of it because they are know to be docile. Today she is not eating and only drinking when I place her in front of the water and dip her...
Hey Quail Song,
Maybe this will help? The Fraser Valley PPPSA

The best thing I have done is join my PPPSA! Instant friends and contacts. Had my first emergency with a bird today and within an hour had someone from my club at my place, saving my...
Hi wyandotte peeps!
I am new to chickens and got my first bunch of chicks may 30th. They were all supposed to be speckled sussex and welsummer BUT...I got a mystery chick. Who is clearly bantam. I posted some pics in a different thread and some are of the opinion that this little one is a bantam...
I don't breed yet, but will be showing in the fall! I have a gorgeous welsummer pullet that I have hopes for, as well as a partidge wyandotte bantam that might just be ok in the show room. What does everyone else breed/show?
Oh I so hope s/he is a little lady! I am leaning toward female no matter the breed. All the other chicks with the same birthday are showing pretty obvious signs as to gender at 5.5 weeks. Ohhh I hope so! She will lay the cutest eggs!
Hmm,...I'm not too sure about being a wellie. If you look at the pic of me and Miss Ruby and you can see that she has the salmon breast. meatball also has a rose comb and I think all wellies have single comb?
Thank you! S/he is my kids favourite, although the least likely to approach them. The welsummers are almost overly friendly. My kids are dyyyyimg to snuggle meatball! Does s/he look like a "she" to you??
So it's been a few weeks and Meatball is growing up! S/he is looking much more grown up, just tiny still! I had a thought the maybe s/he is a partridge chanticler bantam? I heard they are pretty rare so maybe I'm wrong. Here are a few updated pics. Sorry for the quality...iPad photography at...
Hi there!
I am off to North Bay this Friday! I now we have members. Between souther Ontario and there...so I thought I'd offer a "hitch hiking chickens" service! Anyone want/ need anything? I can drop off anywhere along the route. Just let me know. I have a one or two of mine I am taking to...
Think you should do up some breed ones just as stock...bet they would sell! I might see if you can do up my poultry association logo on a few for prizes for our big show in august! Our first APA sanctioned show!
Hey! Glad to see so many new peeps on this thread!
My chicks moved to the coop today! So excited. It's not even completely finished yet but I could not handle them inside for one more day!
Is there a Canadian buy and sell page? One I have not been able to find? I don't know if it's ok or not...
Haha, yes, they perch and fly off of it a lot! I ended up putting a mat on top to help control the poop! My bedding is pine pellets. Love these because they are very low dust and they last forever!
I got my very first chicks four weeks ago. I was a nervous wreck preparing for their arrival. I had purchaser the Eco Glow 20 a few weeks prior (fast and reasonable shipping!) and plugged it in a few hours before babies were to arrive. Chicks immediately went under it and seemed to feel very...
