Could a Muscovy have killed my Gander?

Today I was heartbroken to find my Sebastopol male goose (gander) dead in my yard. He was only about a year old. The only clues I have are: 1) he was found near a hole in the fence 2) there was no sign of trauma or injury except a tuft of feathers plucked out at his tail and a few feathers...

Meyer Rare Breeds - unsure on 2

These chicks both have feathering on legs and came from Meyer's rare breed assorrment. I don't know if these yellow chicks are splash marans without splashing being visible, or if they are white cochins? I also can't figure out what the brown one is - make a dark brahma? Thanks!

Rough dry bare skin, feather loss

My sister (central Virginia area) has a spacious covered coop and run. It is clean and well-maintained. Her birds don't free range. All of them are about 2 years old or younger. Recently there has been feather loss that I felt was likely molt, but on looking more closely, I'm not sure. Some...

Rare Breed Pullets from Meyer ID help

I will look up Langshan - thanks! Not Ancona, had one of those before too, because feather legged and they are predominantly yellow on front of face and body with black and these didn't start out that way. You are right with cuckoo maran legs - I think it can go either way.

Rare Breed Pullets from Meyer ID help

Thanks for the input 🤗 I agree, the brown ones are hard. They were able to tell me that my freebie chick was an Olive Egger which is as you said, their blend of breeds. But since they can vary in appearance, I don't know which one it is 🙄.The blue one has feathered legs. They actually did send...

Help with identifying this beautiful lady?

Actually I posted today about chicks from the Rare Breed Assortment as well and hope to get some input, but just so you know - don't eliminate any - they don't leg band assortments

Rare Breed Pullets from Meyer ID help

Hi Chicken Friends! I bought a rare breed lot from Meyer hatchery. Supposedly all pullets. I can't tell what I have and Meyer couldn't tell me. The black and many of the barred pattern ones have light feathering on legs, so I'm thinking Marans. I'm hoping Black Copper Marans for some and...

If chickens w Denagard, will hurt if cats drink water?

We have a couple of barn cats - well I should say coop cats. I need to treat my chickens with Denaguard. There's not really any way in to keep the cats from it, Even though they have their own water bowl. Will that be harmful to the cats of they drink some of that water?

No Grasping Reflex One Foot, Walking on hock

I'm sorry you've had this issue too. It's so hard to have an otherwise healthy bird have an issue that makes it hard for them to be in your flock without being bullied. You bring up an intriguing thought - I don't know - I'll have to dig into the petro thing further. I have wondered if it may...

No Grasping Reflex One Foot, Walking on hock

I have had a couple of birds, bantams only - silkie and bantam cochin - start limping a bit. They stick one foot out to the side to balance on the hock. When I touch the bottom of the foot on that side there is no reflexive grasping. Just like there's no feeling in the foot. The only control...

Eyes will not improve in my salmon faverolle

I haven't been able to find Tylan injectable anywhere for a long time. I have Tylan powder. I tried giving her Benadryl yesterday, and I've continued with ointment, but she seems the same. I also noticed a pink looking rash. I don't known if it's related to all this or not.

Eyes will not improve in my salmon faverolle

I'll give children's Benadryl a try. I've had her isolated from the flock for a long time now and honestly just don't know what to do with her, since she seems healthy otherwise, but I'm afraid to introduce something to everyone else.
