    Chicken Breed Focus - Serama

I breed American and Malay type. I also mix between the two to improve type. Here are some of mine. This fellow here is one of my Malay/American types. Tyson is full on Malay. Here is an American boy. The reason I worked so hard to get the Malay was to add hardness to the feathers. As you...

Haha...I have got to stop hatching. Here is one fresh from the oven yesterday. I did not think this egg would make it as it was very tiny. That is a tsp btw :-)

    Ayam Seramas

Here is a picture of Tyson one of my favorite boys. He is 1.5yrs old now and about 13oz. He is such a stinker. He is a great show off at home but can be a bugger in a show. Here is won 2nd place. Had he of shown off like he does at home he would have won the whole show. Such a stinker but I...

    Araucana thread anyone?

The tuft is something I am still working on. I have one single tufted cock and quite a few DT hens. The rest are clean faced. I am hoping I can get at least one double tufted cock from all my hatching this year. I have the duck wing variety and (I get both silver and golden) but mainly golden...

    Araucana thread anyone?

It took me over 2 years to get the flock I wanted. So worth it! I raise the duck wing large fowl variety. Here is a pic of one breeding group and some of my chicks that just hatched.

Review by '' on item 'Araucana'

I will never stop breeding these birds. The breeding issues are so worth the trouble and I have had many successful hatches since I started to trim vent area in the spring. I also love that hens do go broody, hatch their own chicks and make great moms. My ladies give me a large amount of...

    Chicken Breed Focus - Araucana

This is an old thread but I breed Duckwing colored Araucana. This breed is so rare today. It took me 2 years to establish a good flock. I have a mix of clean face, ST and DT. These are some of the most friendliest chickens ever.

    American serama thread!

I am so sorry. I have found Serama chicks to be the worst for pasty butt even when raised by broody hens. For me I have to keep a close eye on all chicks until they are about 2 weeks old.

    American serama thread!

Serama babies!!! This hatch was so very successful. I had 20 to start and 16 hatched. I am debating on just one more hatch for the year.

    American serama thread!

Beautiful babies and welcome to a huge addiction. The things to consider and watch out for on Serama chicks...One I would grind their food into more of a powder or moisten...they will consume it better. Two Seramas seem to have invented pasty butt so keep a watch for that. Other than those...
