American serama thread!

Thanks, I accually found a person near me that has a serama pair that I like,
I would also appreciate the name of the person...

Serama babies!!! This hatch was so very successful. I had 20 to start and 16 hatched. I am debating on just one more hatch for the year.

That is amazing! I love the variety of colors they give!

On a sadder note......I have lost 4 of the 11 Seramas that hatched for me. I had moved them out with a broody and she was doing well with them, but I came home from running errands 2 days ago and found one had gotten stuck between the bottom of the water dish and the wall of the broody pen and died. Then yesterday I found one had died overnight and another was near death. I brought in the bad one and saw that it had a pretty bad pasty butt. I got it warmed up and it was improving, after is started looking better I took it in to clean it up so it could relieve itself, but it died, just as I was finishing the process. I found 4 more that had various levels of pasty butt, so I brought everyone in, cleaned up the ones that needed it and, gave them some yogurt and chick grit and put them under the brooder plate. am also adding probiotics to their water. I found another dead this morning and one with bad pasty butt again, Cleaned that one up again and everyone else seems to be doing fine. They will remain in the brooder inside so I can keep a closer eye on them from now on.

I am so sorry. I have found Serama chicks to be the worst for pasty butt even when raised by broody hens. For me I have to keep a close eye on all chicks until they are about 2 weeks old.

Hi there,
I am trying to find a couple serama pullets for my cockerel. Would also be willing To try fertilized eggs. I am located in ontario Canada. Any help would be great!
