American serama thread!

As I was monitoring a pair of the 8-week-olds as they wandered throughout the house, I heard a faint crow from the other room, where some of the others are housed. Not as robust as a grown rooster's crow, but definitely a crow. The only bird in that room who is old enough is a young blue laced Serama... pullet?
Well that's a first for me.
I've heard that some older hens can crow, especially in a roosterless flock, but this little girl is no older than 3 months and is in a pen with another pullet and a cockerel.

Thank you guys so much!

I just got my first little roo, He was a rescue, SO cute and very pretty. Probably not show stock, but got me thinking that Serama might be fun. And Jerry has a ton of books on genetics. Will have to collect them one by one as $$ allow, but I love books and research.

I have already joined a couple of the FB groups, so am on top of that, and I know where my local Serama shows are held. Will be lots of fun!

The Cocopop colour really appeals to me, and I understand it is a crap shoot with actually getting it, but anything beautiful will be great to play with.

I hatched a chick down color that I haven't gotten before yesterday! It is the one on the right. He has a small cape of light tan. If you've hatched one like this before, how'd it turn out?

There are some breeders in Ca. that have worked with Cocopop a lot. Check out the SCNA site. You can probably find someone closer to you that can help you get started with the Cocopop. I have read info from more experienced breeders in that area that say it's not that difficult once you get the correct gene pool going. I'm just starting myself so I'm not there yet. Good breeders like to share their knowledge And maybe you can get some good starter birds in your area. Shipping alone can get pricey. If you plan to attend shows its a good place to meet to pickup birds as well if you can make arrangements with the seller in advance and you can learn a lot.

I will post pics, he is adorable.

I don't like to do shipping, I am out in the desert area and worry too much about overheating, so I would just do pick ups at shows/breeders. I will check out the SCNA site, thank you.

My daughter and I had our first successful hatch. 10 Seramas and 2 Silkies. They are all so sweet but I wanted to show off my little Fizzle. Has anyone seen a Serama with a dark spot like this? We're wondering if this will stay as an adult.

I haven't posted pictures in a while cause my little lady is going through a molt. She is a year old so it is a much needed molt. She has not been wanting to have a photo shoot sadly.

So I really like chocolate seramas and I think that I might want to do that as a breeding Project, Does anyone Breed Chocolates? If so if you breed Chocolate to chocolate do you get chocolate?
