I must be blessed. I have 3 roos... 18 girls and 3 peafowl. 2 of my boys were part of a batch I bought when they were very young. I was new to chicks and ended up with 5 roos. They are mutts one looks like a buff and one is a big ol red. Every night we went to the coop and pet them and...
My six yr old still thinks the roosters are getting piggy back rides.
My mom didn't believe that my chicks knnow their names until I showed her. I have 24 and they all have names. Some of them have even changed. My banty went from 'nice' to little momma after she went broody. My 'big red'...
Will it hurt them if they get into chicken food - and vice versa? They will probably have to be in the same area - but the area is big - and I will segregate with a fence. My daughter works at the zoo - and these are chicks from those peafowl - the mommas and daddies pretty much free range...
I am posting from a phone so forgve typos plz....
I have kept chickens for about 2 years and love em!
My daughter is getting some pea-chicks and I need advice from experts.
Do they get along okay with chickens if they are raised with them? My chicks are all pets....all 18 of em.... my roo is...
My dog goes in the same yard with the chickens every morning. He quickly learned how warm the coop is and goes in and lays with them. He's got space where there is no poo. They are so cute. I think his scent helps keep predators away too.
I do wait untl roosting time. I also sneak cuddles from my roo lol. I do have a big bell in my yard that I have them trained to come to. Soooo worth the time it took to do it. Although if they have found a stash of bugs they are reluctant to come even with the bell. Then the whole...
Now that's a chick of adifferent color! I know they use gelatin to dye some animalss. To me chicks don't need anymore cuteness. I am having to be strong right now just to get out of tsc without that lil box right now
i saw a post that made me think this might be fun... i'd like to add some byc people to my facebook as friends - would be nice to have some friends who understand my chicken posts lol my family and friends tend to just humor me ...
my email is [email protected] - my name is tina...
maybe she meant to say that roosters are fertile from april 1 UNTIL March 31 ... lol
what scares me most - is the birds that have suffered because their owners read that book
the only experts i trust anymore are on BYC - and even then I use common sense

Awwww, thank you so much!!! I'm just glad that my pictures are hiding the imperfections! LOL I found out yesterday when I laid down the subfloor I am out of square by about an inch! Which means, the pieces are on there a bit crazy and i had to take the SkillSaw to the ends and chop...
i just recently started letting mine out of their run for awhile at night - not for space -b ecause their yard is more than enough space - but because my garden full of grasshoppers and those girls do the best pest control ever
have had a few that had to herd them - but mostly they are...
get a bell - a loud one - like a cow bell... whenever you feed them the worms - in the coop -ring the bell... they soon learn to associate the bell with food - espcially if it is a treat they really like - it works on mine ... i've given them treats with a bell since they were babies - and now...
i have a lil banty that was pecked pretty bad on his neck as a chick - and his crow still sounds like a beginner - probably will never get better ... funny
