    Securing Guillotine Style Pop Door

I know this is an old post, but just in case someone is searching for a way to secure a guillotine-style coop door, I followed this guy's design, and I love it so far. Here's a link to his YouTube video on it, a link to his website with the templates you can print out. I hope this helps. As soon...

Euthanized chicken had purple face and comb

Lack of oxygen. Euthasol causes respiratory depression (hypoventilation). This is when a human or animal breathes too slowly or shallowly, preventing proper gas exchange in the lungs.

Mulard vs Hinny ducks as adults? Photos pls?j

I wouldn't count on getting eggs from a female hinny either. Mine is now 1.7 yrs old and has only laid one egg (before turning a year old) and is was the size of a fairy egg. Oh and I ended up keeping all three of my 1st Gen babies in the pictures. I just couldn't let them go so I am glad no...

    Cute duck accessories??🦆❤️

No not really, once they realize they couldn't easily take it off they get distracted by other things happening around them. They're velcroed in two places so they can't get them off, one above the dew claw and one below. As long as it fits them properly it doesn't bother'em too much.

    Cute duck accessories??🦆❤️

I dunno, I don't dress mine up. The booties I use when one of my ducks has bumblefoot to keep the medicine and gauze in place.

Muscovy Drake X Cayuga Hen MULES, will females lay eggs?

Hinny momma here... would like to say my hinny hen has only laid 1 egg in her life, and it was the size of a fairy egg..She was born 01/16/2023. My Hinnies (2 drakes+ 1 hen, dark ones in picture below) resulted from my Silver Appleyard drake and Muscovy hen.

    Lethargic hen with dirty vent

It may be Egg Yolk Peritonitis unfortunately. I just lost one of my oldest hens to this about 2 weeks ago. She's not laying an egg because she's laying them internally with no shells. The eggs build up in the body cavity to the point it distends the abdomen area from the pressure build up. I was...

Weird Slow Neck Bobbing and Big Protruding Eyeballs

In the video she's acting as if she's blind. She turns to the one duck that's quacking and then when she hears the other duck behind her flapping its wings she then turns to it....so she's listening for cues about where everyone is. And now that I'm reading the rest of your post, I firmly...

Farmsitting and need help diagnosing a hen

Oh, by the way, @Wyorp Rock, as I was sorting my pictures of Goldie, I found that her legs have always been that bluish/purple since I first met her on 02/11/2023. The picture I first provided that I thought was her with the EYP symptoms was another hen of that owner. It makes me concerned that...

Farmsitting and need help diagnosing a hen

I get attached pretty quickly anyway, but yeah, they do. I only had her for three (3) months, and in the 1st month, I kept trying to convince myself that she was still the previous owner's chicken and I was just doing extended babysitting. Perhaps in the second episode, where I was fighting so...

Farmsitting and need help diagnosing a hen

No, thank you. You helped two species at the same time without realizing it yet. You helped me at the beginning of all this, and I can't express how much I appreciate it. Your advice on how I could best help Goldie and the most gentle way of telling me an outcome possibility is the ONLY reason I...

Farmsitting and need help diagnosing a hen

I am sorry you are possibly going through the same thing. I didn't think I would get her through May's episode, so I gradually prepared myself. When she "got better," I was then convincing myself, ok, this is going to be an ongoing up & down routine, and I was willing to put in the effort as...

Farmsitting and need help diagnosing a hen

Update on Goldie: After the owner returned from her vacation, she felt the hens would be better off with me, so she asked if I would be willing to keep Goldie (the sick hen) and Hunter (the oldest hen brought to my house first). Me: I would LOVE to :love I got Goldie back out and foraging...

    Anyone use chicken saddles?

I have the brand in your first picture. Took my oldest hen a little less than a day to get over it and realize she couldn't remove it and now walking around as if she doesn't care. Also didn't deter or hinder my roo from doing his business either.
