Necropsy of my beloved hen "Kennedy"

My favorite young hen was ill for the past year. UC Davis did a necropsy on her. She died two days ago. I need some medical advice so that I can understand what the report states. Does anyone know what the following information mean? I have 4 other hens which are all fine. The preliminary...

Thank you for sharing Butter's and your journey with us. I learned a lot about chicken anatomy reading your article and referencing the pictures. Thank you very much!

    Urgent! Chick malpositioned, hatching assistance!

I don't know much about eggs, but that doesn't look any where near ready to hatch.

So I got a baby chick in this morning in the mail and I just wanted to make sure she’s OK she seems to have a bald spot or almost like her bone out

Is it walking and moving naturally? I don't see any swelling or inflammation. Is it eating and drinking normally? May just be a featherless spot, which will resolve on its own.

    Swollen foot on Rooster

Actually, no it doesn't. Upon closer review of the photos, there is no omnipresent black scab on the foot. Don't think it is bumblefoot. But, the heat and the streaking indicate an infection of some sort.

Chicken is missing feathers and bleeding

Yep. Definitely separate her. The other chickens will peck at the bleeding wound and make it worse.

    Sick chicken please help

Yes. You should be worried. I recommend quarantining it from the other. Where did it come from? Is it vaccinated? What food were you feeding? Do you have a pre-existing flock?

    Feather mite?

I checked her again. I use DE in their coop. She still has tiny flat beige crawlies at the very base of her feathers. I checked her coop mates, and they have no sign of the bugs. Is it possible for one hen to be more susceptible to mites and lice? I quarantined her. My plan is to apply...

    Feather mite?

Oops, I should say it's not her tail or wing feathers. It's her breast feathers. Is it possible it's the same thing?

    Feather mite?

Oh, and I noticed many of her chest/brood feathers are broken/cut.

    Feather mite?

I have a similar issue. My Plymouth Rock has had numerous health issues (she was a rescued hen). Last week, I saw her with a "down tail" and picking at her feathers. I quarantined her briefly, and tonight I examined her. I found teeny tiny beige mites(?) attached to the base of her lower...

I accidentally killed one of my hens today :(

I tip my chickens to check them for health and mites. They lay gently in my lap (right side up and upside down) for several minutes at a time, as I check their overall health, their wings, legs, and vent. I monitor them through the process; never had them die during their examination. But...

    Feral cats - chicken predators?

It depends on the cat. My security cams caught an unknown cat in my hen enclosure. I was initially worried until I saw it carry away a rat it caught. That being said, my personal cat (which is never allowed outside) would kill my chickens because he doesnt know any better, and the one time he...
