    Yes, that is my RIR roo! He used to be pretty quiet until I got my EE roo and now he crows ALL DAY LONG! I think he is VERY jealous!

    What time do yours stop laying?

    Your girls are beautiful!! I let mine free range from about 7am to dark on about 11 acres. Though they never go that far,they all go back to the coop to lay during the day. They are usually all done laying by noon or so.

    Meat eating RIR

    I went out to collect eggs the other afternoon and 5 of my hens were playing keep away with a HUGE rat that was still alive enough to be squeeling at the top of its little lungs! I feel sorry for my cat if he ever gets too close to the chickens! They also LOVE mice and snakes!

    My goal was not to hijack this post. It was to point out that we all have kid issues, some more than others, so thank your lucky stars that the problems you are having with yours are mild compared to some.
