I didn't end up using the penicillin yet. She's no longer limping. I've been putting PRID on her every other day and there is a yellowish orange spot now on the bottom of her foot. Could this be the PRID drawing out the infection in that spot? If so, I will have to cut it out because this is...
I did do a surgery and we were able to get out a good portion of the infection. Nothing that resembled the kernel though. Ive been putting honey based antibiotic ointment, vetericyn, and prid on it. The cut is healing very well, however the bump is still there. The temperature of her foot is...
What did you use for an oral antibiotic? I think my mallard has bumblefoot, but hers doesn't have the scab that is the telltale sign of bumblefoot. I've used the clear iodine, triple antibiotic ointment ointment, vetericyn, and I even started applying preparation H. The swelling is still there...
Well I'm think the infection has gone farther than her foot. Her poop is now dark green and slimey in texture. The triple antibiotic ointment didn't show any difference. I started to use the preparation h a few days ago, and still no changes. I think I'm going to try medication now. Any ideas?
I have switched to soaking daily. This is day 3. I have her in a large dog kennel so that could be one reason she's been sitting a lot. She still seems to be eating and drinking. I haven't noticed her preening herself, but I am at work for most of the day. She also laid a soft egg the other day...
She is still not putting weight on her foot. The temperature of her foot is pretty warm, but the temperature of her leg is the same warmth as her other leg. The epsom salt is making her foot very soft.
So far I have soaked her foot in epsom salt and warm water for twenty minutes every other day, coating the swollen area in decolorized iodine and letting that dry. Then I sprayed her foot with vetericyn, and slathered it with triple antibiotic ointment. I sprayed her gauze again with vetericyn...
I've got two ducks with what looks like bumblefoot. One is limping and she doesn't want
To put weight on that foot. It looks like there is a little spot on her foot. I've got epsom salt, decolorized iodine, vetericyn, gauze, and vet wrap. I was going to soak in epsom salt first, coat with...
I've got a broody buff Orpington that has been sitting on a handful of duck eggs. 3 have hatched so far. I've never had a chicken hatch ducks. Is there anything special I need to keep in mind?
I've got a duck with bumblefoot. She's been limping and there is a small speck on her foot. I've got epsom salt, vet bandage, gauze, decolorized iodine, and vetericyn. I planned on soaking her foot in epsom salt first, putting the iodine on it, then vetericyn, then wrapping it up. Am I missing...
I've got a duck with bumblefoot and I've been looking at how to treat it. I have read about the clear iodine but I haven't read anything about a sugar wrap. Can you tell me more about this please?
I can't find any information on clear iodine. I ended up finding decolorized iodine. Is this the same thing? I noticed that one of my ducks has bumblefoot today, and am looking to treat asap.
I'm looking to buy food in bulk. I'm wondering if there is a better way to store the feed. I'm thinking about 55 gallon drums. Does it matter if they are plastic or metal? Thank you.
My local feed store had what I thought was a great deal on organic crumbles. In order to get the great price, you had to buy 10 bags. When I brought them home, I noticed they expire in Dec 2015. Is this safe to feed my flock? Thank you.
