Well, my Rooster turned out to be "special needs" so I gave him to a girl that adopts out special birds to special needs teachers for the kids.

    Stumbling chicken

Well, I guess I have resigned myself to her being a him.....I changed her name from "girlfriend" to "Rocky" since he rocks back on his butt. Thanks for the advice and he WAS vaccinated when he was born. He seems to be holding his own against the bullies ( barred rocks) ;)

    Stumbling chicken

She doesn't have Spurs up on her leg, just normal girl feet. Can't girls have pretty feathers too? She was always a little blonder than the red ones. They are vaccinated before they are sold. I will ask my breeder what she thinks. Thanks

    Stumbling chicken

Hello, I have a 4 month old ameracana that started stumbling when she puts her head down to eat. She is bigger than her sisters and has a more developed comb and waddle. She sits on her butt when she puts her head down, but when she is running she looks normal. She gets bullied by the barred...

    Teach old chickens new tricks?

I was wondering if you could teach 5 year olds to drink from nipple waterers? They have been brought up to drink from an open waterer and now I have too many to keep it clean daily.

    Old biddies started laying

My mom once told me that a chicken that quit laying eggs was called an old biddie,so I am not being impolite to my girls. Well, I have one buff Orpington that didn't lay an egg for over a year. This winter, I got three new chicks and finally got them big enough to go into the coop, separated...

One of my hens isn't laying.

Yay! I got three new chicks, they are ameracanas. They all started out looking pretty much the same. Now they all look different. They are 7 1/2 weeks old now and just went outside, in a big box without doors, in the coop with my big girls. I'll try to post a picture.

Thank you, she will get an egg in the morning. I isolated her, no mites. Her color is good, have not wormed her.

    Molting or us she sick?

I put her in a small cage with food and water and put her in the garage for the night. She ate a little, I think.

    Molting or us she sick?

I have a New Jersey giant that is 3 1/2 years old and she is going through her second molt. She looks likeshe is almost dead this morning. She was in her coop and couldn't walk, I took her out and put her in the sun and she is up and standing now, won't eat or drink.
