I woulSince he is young, he still has more growing to do. I would wait for him to finish growing. His feathers will take longer to develop (all my chicks have been like that). I don't know why their feathers take so long to grow.
A way to overcome the issue with getting enough from drinking water is to feed it to them. That is what I did with the liquid form. I had to hold the birds like a baby with one arm, and then have the stuff ready so I can feed it to them. I had to go slow so it would not spill out. I would also...
Is that for injecting doses?
I did not inject my birds, and as I stated I used. .5cc for all of them once a day for five days. They all got better and there has been no return for the symptoms.
I know this will be all after the fact, but it could be useful in the future and for other people who...
He looks normal for a young roo. His feathers look good. In my experience, these chickens grow feathers slower than other birds. So He will still grow feathers for a while. He should be fully feathered by 6 - 7 months old. His rooster tail can get to about the same length as his body. His comb...
I had issues with weeds and grass taking over my garden. So I put the chickens in there for two years. I secured the area and give them free run of the entire garden. They have a dry place to sleep and also for food and eggs. The rest is open to the weather. Next year I plan to plant a new...
From what I can see of your cockerel, he is about 4 months old or younger. Still growing. His tail feathers have not fully grown in. If you could take several pictures of him in sunlight, both of his head and tail, it would be helpful. There are some differences between the two all black chicken...
Does anyone in Colorado breed Svarthona's (Sweedish Black Chicken)?
I was interested in getting one for the dinner table, so preferably no hens. I know how rare they are and you only need one rooster to get fertilized eggs.
I would be interested in a chick if the grown bird is too much for me.
This is my chicken coop. It is open to the surrounding ground. The local animal control came out and looked at my set up. They said it was the best set up they've seen and prefer mine to any of the others.
My set up is quite easy. It is an enclosed area, where dogs and cat, including the local...
They are supposed to lay the same amount of eggs. You can look at the two breeds for different reasons. The Svart Hona is very cold hardy, and the Ayam Cermani is better in hot weather. You might want to consider what your set up is like and what breed will fare better where you are.
I've raised buff orpingtons. They did like snow if it was not too deep. Eating snow is something I've seen many animals do. It is a source of water and maybe starts as a curiosity. For deep snow, make sure you have areas where they can move around. As for my set up, there are covered areas that...
Well it's done already. I gave it to them by feeding it to them. Their symptoms cleared up.
Since I could not find any dosage information other than what I've already stated, I used the .5 cc on all of my birds.
All dcid well, and the symptoms cleared up.
Another thing I've noticed with my pure and mixed, is when you open their mouth. My pure AC are jet black, whereas the mixes have a white mouths or spots of white, but no all black.
I've breed Ayam Cermani chickens. The pure ones do have the black skin and their feathers take longer to grow in. I've let the rooster have some buff orpington and a lavender orpington hens. Those chicks hatch out with black bodies and the orpington color as a face mask and belly. Their feathers...
I understand the 200 is more concentrated. I don't know the dosage amount for the size of each bird.
On another posting the suggested amount was.5cc for a small chicken and 1cc for a full grown large hen.
What I have not found is if anyone has used this on ducks.
I found Tylan 50 available to be ordered thru TSC and Big R. But I did find that my Big R store has Tylan 200. Does anyone have experience with Tylan 200? Would that work for my chickens and ducks?
I have 2 - 4 month old chickens and three ducks about a month old.
The kind of coops I use are all wire. Only the nest boxes and sleeping perches are covered. As you can see I can open the top not gain access to them while they are sleeping.
