Gender Help Please! And Thank YOU!

Me too! He's been red for a while, but I wonder if I can hide his crowing from my neighbors, when it comes.

Gender Help Please! And Thank YOU!

I have a silkie and a white/ gray/ red barnyard mix that I'm just stumped on. They are 14.5 weeks. I don't hear either crowing yet, but I wonder if I'm wishful thinking.:) Also any ideas on what mix my barnyard one is? Thanks so much for any help! :love

singleton chick- weak, bad hatch and trouble walking- I think???

I was surprised that cardboard and bandaids worked so well to help my "non walker". Might be worth a try.

Are my other chickens going to be okay? Cause of death- Unknown- *graphic pix*

My 6 month old cream legbar with beautiful feathers and a gorgeous red comb laid me a soft shelled egg yesterday. Then that night she was dead. I palpated and felt nothing like a stuck egg, but I did find this bleeding on her vent. Devastating to lose ANY birds, but is this a "one bird...

8.5 week old cipher- Backyard mix

Color me dumbfounded. Since this little one was 3 weeks, I was sure it was a boy. But the comb and wattles haven't grown at all. It is VERY skittish. And it's tail feathers are only grown in on the sides really, but I haven't heard any crowing yet.

8.5 week old cipher- Backyard mix

This one has stayed red in the face for weeks, but is impossible to catch, so I couldn't ask earlier. As time goes on, I'm more confused as to what gender it is. Especially with the darkening (black) on it's comb. Middle tail feathers are just starting to come in- red Hatchmates- I...

    FOWL POX! HELP!

I'm going through this too. So if you saw symptoms on one or two chickens in flock of 15, would you vaccinate the rest at that point?

Help. I thought hatching under a broody would be easy.

Good...ish. :) The broody has recognized the weak chick and is trying to balance teaching the strong ones how to eat/ drink while trying to remember to keep the silkie warm. She's 20 hours old now. She is still super wobbly (perhaps from the curled toes) but maybe she's just young? Trying to...

Help. I thought hatching under a broody would be easy.

Yes, I'll definitely tape, and I know this little silkie is tired, but I worry that she is going to just get completely left behind since broody is ready to leave the nest to hang out in the brooder.

Help. I thought hatching under a broody would be easy.

Yeah, I put them all under the same day, and honestly I thought the small Silkie eggs would be first to hatch, but she's 2 days later than the easter Eggers.

Help. I thought hatching under a broody would be easy.

On Saturday (day 20) I had 3 perfect little chicks hatch out, and was excited to have more. Then, Sunday, I found 3 eggs started zipping but weren't able to finish before getting stuck and dying (we live in the desert) or stepped on by the hen before they could push the egg off. Today, Monday...

Advice on where to put my broody

So, just in the dog crate on the floor of the run? Do I close the latch during the day and let her out to do her business or do I keep it open all day? Will the other girls bother her there?
