Feel her for lumps under her skin. I just had the same thing and my sweet girl was full of grape-sized tumors. The vet found them. I put her down. I hope you have better luck.
Is there a way to give them an epsom salt/betadine bath? Do you have a bin you can fill the bottom w water & betadine/epsom salt & let them stand in it? Never had an injury like that but mine really like epsom salt & I soaked their legs in betadine & epsom salt when they had leg mites. Did a...

I think this is good advice. I think the chick needs time and humidity. I don't think I'd run it under water.
Get a spray bottle w clean water. Mist. Lay wet paper towels or hand towels in the incubator.
I saw the "walking backwards" post and remembered the story of an old turkey who did that. A farmer cured him w sauerkraut.
Can you get some Bubbies juice into the chick? At least try ACV.
Hi Eggcessive,
He said the tumors could be caused by a number of issues but given my experience with the other hen who died w classic Marek's I'm confident it was. How long does it take for Marek's to cause tumors?
If this is an example then from time of exposure it took between 2-3 years. She...
Is it attached to the shell - for instance - is the shell stuck to its back? If so take a bit of water and try to work it off GENTLY w a Q-tip. If it's really stuck try coconut oil. If it is stuck to his face then you can't use water w/o risking aspiration. I can't see your photo but I'll look...
Thanks Wyorp. I was more looking for advice on whether this remaining hen would have a quality of life alone, but in the house w us.
The vet diagnosed the tumors which kept her from digesting food so the tumors killed her and the sour crop was a side effect.
I have no idea how old my...
What was best & safest for us was to fill a plastic bin w warm water and if you have eposom salt add it. The water level should be high enough to cover the whole leg and reach the bottom of the chicken. Put affected birds in it (avoid overcrowding) and cover w a screen. They'll protest at first...
Thanks Wyorp - I won't have the necropsy but assuming it's Marek's - especially based on the death of Moonie who had the classic "one leg forward and one back" paralysis, would you put the remaining hen down or let her live as a solitary house chicken? I'm pretty convinced it's Marek's.
My bantie hen w sour crop just died - not from sour crop but from tumors causing the sour crop. My vet knew w/in a few minutes after feeling grape-sized tumors on her bottom. He said sour crop doesn't make them as sick as she was, lethargic & weak.
She was starving & I didn't know bc up until...
Thanks BabyandCotton and I wish that was true :( but from what I understand if the hen I got from the farmer was vaccinated she would be protected but still be a carrier to infect the hen who just died. I suspect Moonie was never vaccinated by the farmer whose operation was questionable at best...
I sprayed the eggs w a mist of water regularly, even during hatching I sprayed a folded hand towel in the bator to keep things wetted. Maybe your humidity needs a boost. Very nervous time, I feel for you.
Feel her body for lumps under her skin just to ensure tumors aren't interferring w her digestion. I just lost my hen to that and I'd brought her to the vet for sour crop, which she had due to the tumors. Her crop would grow overnight.
If you have a scale keep a tally of her weight.
Hope it...
Apple cider vinegar can help a sick chick...and keep it in your sleeve or tucked in a sports bra where it can be cozy.
I wish I could do that w my hen. She seems depressed like reality hit. Her best friend won't be back. I'm just as depressed.
I hope I'm wrong but we had a girl the same age start out w a limp and ended up lame. I'm sure it was Marek's which is a fatal illness and contagious. There is a lot here written on it and maybe you can see if the symptoms match. I hope it's nothing serious but if so you might want to put her...
