    Something stuck in chicken’s butt?

I have a three year old hen that has been acting weak and tired lately. Today I noticed something was stuck in her butt, and that it had gotten messy. She feels a bit light when I pick her up. when investigating her butt I saw something sticking out. When I pulled on it it came out a bit, but it...

    What Gender is This Chick?

I am not 100% sure because the person I got the eggs from has multiple roosters and hens of different breeds.

    What Gender is This Chick?

Hello, I’m wondering what gender this chick is. She/he is about 3 and a half weeks old. When she/he hatched I wing sexed the chicks and my guess is female. Some of the other chicks from the same hatch have red in their crests already.

    Help! Bloody gosling

The gosling was alright. (We assumed the hen was attacking them.) We took them away from the hen and gave him Blu Kote, he healed. I’ve sold them so I don’t know what’s happened to them now.

    Mites?

Thanks for the responses, I’ve sprayed the coop and the hen that had it really bad. Unfortunately she didn’t make it. :( I’m not sure if it was the mites, she was getting weak and had other issues earlier this year.

    Mites?

Hello, I have a 4 year old hen that started to seem tired and a bit sickly. Last night she didn’t roost and instead slept in the nesting box. Today I examined her to see if there was something wrong. She had a poopy butt and when I went to clean it I noticed little bugs running around on her...

    Bumblefoot?

I’m not sure what you mean? She has never lost any toes, she hatched with 9. I don’t have any betadine or chlorhexidene either... I gave her more ointment, and Blu-Kote today. She seems the same, but I noticed another spot on her other foot that looks like bumblefoot. Yesterday it looked like...

    Bumblefoot?

I have a 2 year old hen who I think might have bumblefoot. Today when I picked her up I noticed one of her toes was big and had a black scab on it. She wasn’t limping though. (I’m not sure if this is relevant but she has 9 toes, and the large toe was on her 5 toe side.) She’s always been a bit...

Mites or just a poopy butt?

No change in diet, although there’s a chance she got into the compost. It’s possible she snuck a few bites of my other chickens’ feed, but nothing major. It’s been rather hot here, so I wouldn’t be surprised she’s drinking more water. I cleaned out my coop, I didn’t notice any bugs or anything...

Mites or just a poopy butt?

I forgot to mention deworming, this hen has never been dewormed but I have dewormed other hens in my flock and still have the medication.

Mites or just a poopy butt?

She last laid an egg yesterday morning, I will trim her feathers and check to see if she’s bloated. I will also read up on lice/mites.

Mites or just a poopy butt?

I have one chicken with pretty dirty butt feathers, I had assumed it was just that until today she wouldn’t leave the coop and overall didn’t seem so great. After a little reading I’m thinking it could be mites? I haven’t noticed bugs on her, but I have seen a few around the coop. My other hens...

    Blood on gosling's head.

The little guy is doing great! We gave him some more Blue Kote, the wound doesn't seem to hold him back at all!

    Blood on gosling's head.

We've named him Garlic, and his sister/brother Honey. They're Embden geese, so I think we can guess the gender soon.

    Blood on gosling's head.

We're gonna need a name for the little guy soon.:)

    Blood on gosling's head.

It doesn't seem to be a hole, the bleeding has stoped and she went for a little swim with another gosling. She has been following me around when she can! We put some blue kote on the wound.
