When can you separate the mother hen and the chicks?

So we have a silkie hen that mothers 5 chicks. They’re about 3 weeks old now. Are you able to separate the mother from the chicks after a certain amount of time?

Can two birds that have 5 toes have a 4 toe baby and the other way around?

Well the mothers are undetermined. It’s a barnyard mix lol. But I think it’s only the Americans that have the Gray legs. One of the white ones are an Americana.

Can two birds that have 5 toes have a 4 toe baby and the other way around?

We have two roosters. One with 4 toes and one with 5. 4/5 of the babies have 5 toes. Does that mean the 5 tie babies come from the 5 toe rooster?

Only one wing on the chick is black and the other is all white.

Is that anything you’ve had? The entire chick is white/ light yellow and just one wing is completely black.

Is it ok for a momma hen to not see the flock for a couple months as she raises the chicks?

She and the babies are in a separate pen away from the big birds. Before she hatched eggs out, we would take her down for 15-20 mins a day. Now she goes crazy if we take her out. We plan to put her in a pen inside the big pen for 3-4 weeks so they can see but not get to them.

    Chicken laying eggs

I wouldn’t think so if they’re just sitting there and laying. Maybe something could be transmitted Freon the goats like eating the poop but I doubt it

What to do with the 3/8 eggs that haven’t hatched?

Our silkie has hatched 5 wonderful hens and she seems like she’s spending all her time off of the 3 eggs remaining. Does that mean she’s done with them? Do we need to throw them out in a few days?

Is it okay to take momma and baby chicks outside?

Yep I was going to just put them by the sun and shade and kinda watch but I do have this big 10 foot square wall thing that goes around the side. But yes the cats and dog would be put up at that point.
