Hi everyone!
I haven't been on Backyard Chickens for quite awhile-so I thought I'd pop in and see what's going on with fellow Missouri chicken people. I live in Kansas City and I've had my chickens for four years now. I started out with nine-now five. I started out with 5 Golden Comets, but 4...

Good luck! I made 20 this past week with just some cross stickers to include in some gift boxes for a fund-raiser at our church. I would love to see your photos when you finish yours-maybe it would help me to get enthused to make some more. I have a lot of eggs-I've been blowing them...

I like the Triple Thick, paint on-thin coat.
-------------------------------
@yinepu-Do you know if a coat of varnish over Triple Thick would work? I like Triple Thick but I find that it remains somewhat tacky-in that, when the eggs are stored-if touching each other they will stick...
I tried the wire bottom dog crate for about a week with my stubborn broody. Finally, I did the cold water method-it worked, but I had read that you need to hold them in the cold water for 5 minutes, and that is harder than it sounds. She was panicked and kept crying-I tried to comfort her, but...
Thank you mini-micro rancher for your suggestions-one of my broodys is back to normal, but the other one is still broody. It is hard to deal with in such hot weather, 100-106 for the next few days.
Today I tried holding her in cold water longer-I had just dipped her in before. She hated it...
@joannarashid-I just found this thread and was wondering how things are going with your chickens? I feel I am constantly worrying about if my neighbors are bothered by my chickens when they have their "outbursts". I am always running outside if I hear them being really loud to try and quiet them...
I guess I will try to put them in a wire dog crate tomorrow if they haven't stopped. So, after 3-5 days I will hopefully see a change in behavior and know they aren't broody anymore?
Last week on the hottest day here-105 degrees-I noticed one of my golden comets was staying in the nest box, and then wanting to sleep there. I kept taking her out, dipping her in cool water, (I didn't feel bad since it was so hot) and putting her on the roost at night. A couple days ago...
My two EE's are my favorite chickens. One lays a beautiful blue egg and the other lays a pinkish egg-both eggs are small to medium size.
I always include a pink egg and a blue egg in the cartons I sell and my egg customers love them-especially the children!
I have the same problem and sometimes I run out and throw some scratch to them-but like the previous reply it seems like that it just rewarding them. I just remembered that I bought a flock block that I have never put out maybe I will put that out for a few hours in the morning-espesially during...
Good luck to you. We just found out we were supposed to get written permission from neighbors who are within 100 feet of our coop. We got everyone to sign except the people who live right behind us. They just put their house on the market and don't want to sign.
I have nine chickens and my five loud ones are Golden Comets-they are such grumblers and complainers and loud! I usually wail until afternoon to let them out of their run into the backyard.
They are out there complaining-because they are ready to go out sooner!!!!!......so spoiled!

I ordered a lot from there and the ones I had terrible luck with were the translucent ones-I couldn't get them to work at all! Some of the glitter ones were difficult as well.
I started violin lessons again in January and I am almost at the end of Suzuki Book One. I first tried violin lesson about 14 years ago and I had to quit because I had a bad sledding accident and fractured my spine. I guess it was the right time for me to start again because I found a wonderful...

Breshcandra, your eggs look really nice! Has your church held the auction?
I donated some of mine for a Mission Mart at our church and I priced them @ $5.00 each and $24.00 for a set of 4-(they were more detailed). I really think the price should have been more-but I wanted to be...
I think it varies from different parts of the country. I only have about 3 dozen extra to sell each week. At first I just gave my extra eggs away-then some of my friends asked to be regular egg customers. I priced them at 4.00 a dozen. My son lives in Seattle and he sells his eggs for 5.00 a...

I just wanted to tell you that I ordered a pair of the mid-calf Bogs and they are good boots, but they do curve in at the ankle-so they may not be what you are looking for. I also think they are very hard to get off- there is no ridge or anything at the heel to be able to push against...
I made six pound cakes this morning-I have too many eggs! ....The good thing is that I put them in the freezer to use in the trifle I make in the summer using lots of fresh berries. Then I can use more eggs when I make the trifle custard to put it all together.
