    I do all kind of things with the cockerels, makes them nice and tender. I tried cooking in the oven once, very chewy! I’ve done bone broth with them too. Mostly soup, Chicken and dumplings, chicken and rice. There is a face book site with tons of fresh chicken ideas!! I ❤️ my instant pot!

    Yeah, he sounds like dinner to me. I use to try and work with them, but I found out that Roosters/cockerels are quite delish in my new instant pot. I have two Roosters now, Samson and Son. I haven't named the Son just yet, but he looks to be a keeper!

    yeah, the RIR is a pullet.. I had four RIR cockerels, and at Ten weeks, had bigger combs and green tint to their tails then your pretty lady. :)

    Yes, tons of Black bears.. I had a Black bear in my yard this year, thankfully he left the coop alone, and went on his way.

    H Hello and Welcome to the area. :) I live in the Upper Peninsula as well.. Fishers, weasels (very numerous in the U.P), mink, coyotes, fox (both red and Gray), Eagles/hawks. My biggest concern is feral cats! I use hard wire to secure the coop.

    I just put it in their water. I worm in March and Sept.. My girls already started laying again.. I had six eggs today, yay. Going to make a quiche tomorrow with them. I got really lucky on my Mystery chick, but I got four extra packing birds in my order, which turn out all Roo's.

    My girls just started laying again, molted right before winter as well. It's been extremely cold, so I figured that played into them not laying and the sun hours.

    Roo or Hen please????

    Can you show me a top view looking down on them and then a side profile. I honestly can't tell from the pictures, and I live for these kind of threads. The white one looks like a pullet, the dark one has me thrown. The darkness of the legs say pullet, but that comb.. I need more pictures.

    Sexing Chicks

    I would like to guess, :) 1st photo= pullet. 2nd and 3rd photo, they look like Cockerels. 4th pic. ? but lets say Pullet, 5th looks like a pullet. last picture ? leaning Cockerel as well. Let me know later how I did. :)
