Update!
They were both roos as were 2 others! Back to the farm they have gone as thankfully the lady we got them from said we could switch out any roos for hens. So of the 7, 4 roos and 3 hens. They were so hard to tell apart visually as I am just learning but I did notice that the roos were all getting new feathers and as they came in they were yellow patches of the shaft of the feather, the hens never had this yellowing. The biggest differences I noticed were behavioural. The 4 roos sparred with each other from the get-go while the hens didn't and the roos walked taller than the hens. Their saddle feathers and cape feathers didnt come in until right as they started crowing so that wasn't useful. Now I know for next time!
