    Plucked feathers

Thanks! I was just reading that article. :) I just checked the crop this evening a few minutes ago while she was roosting, so I will check in the am and see what it looks like.

    Plucked feathers

So, his crop seems pretty full. What do I do then if it isn't emptying? I have seen it full and less so, but it does seem really engorged now.

    Mixing 6-Week-Old Chicks with Newborns

Thanks. I am going to try to do it this weekend. They're separated from the adults but in a brooder next to them where they can all see each other, but I don't want to have to set up two brooders in the coop if the 6 week and day olds can co-exist peacefully together.

    Mixing 6-Week-Old Chicks with Newborns

Hello, I have 6 week old chicks and I just incubated some newborn chicks who are hatching today and tomorrow. I am wondering if anyone has mixed these two age groups with no problems in the same brooder area. Any suggestions for mixing these two age groups? What to watch out for or if...

    Roo or Pullet Erminette

In that one photo that is what I thought. But without a good photo I can't tell and no waddles dropped is why I am wondering.

Broody Serama hatching Chicks 3ft up

I think they'll be fine now that she has them. They can get in and out. I am just not sure how she'll teach them to eat and drink since the other chickens eat out of a treadle feeder. Maybe she'll have them go eat up all the scraps around there. I did put chick starter feed near her, but then...

Broody Serama hatching Chicks 3ft up

Well, I got home and there were 2 chicks with her on the ground walking around. I don't know how they got down, but they're all snuggling under the ramp. I guess she'll be staying down there with them. I think I'll need to put food down for them and a smaller waterer for them so they can get...

Broody Serama hatching Chicks 3ft up

I'll see about it when I get home today. She won't let me get near her and I can't even see how many chicks or eggs are under her. The baby must be under here too that was there yesterday.

Broody Serama hatching Chicks 3ft up

Hello, I have a broody Serama hen who is hatching babies in the nesting boxes that are up 3ft off the ground and they fly to get up there or walk up a steep incline. The babies would fall if they jumped out so I am not sure how I should set it up for them to get back up there and down for...

    Plymouth, Dominique, Cuckoo Maran?

Thanks, I thought it was a Cuckoo Maran, but it was also part of a flock that had Dominiques and Plymouth Rocks. The other barred Cuckoo had feathered feet and I gave it away since I prefer them without the feathered feet, so I wanted to know if it still was a barred Cuckoo Maran. There were...

    Serama Eggs are so TINY!

I thought they'd be smaller but the smallest one I have is pretty close. When your quail eggs hatch the babies must be tiny and fragile to hold. I'd be worry about hurting one with my hands just holding one. Who lays the blue ones? Are those coturnix eggs too?
