It's illegal to feed wild animals. SSS
Nobody killed anything. I didn't even get a chance to harass. Lets hope it stays that way. I have done all i can do with fencing, netting and guard dog. I do not feed wild life. And they don't feed on me.
I'm sure it will not been seen around here...
Failed . It tried to reach in the 2x4 wire netted run. 2/3 of the 16 lady's ran into the 6x14 armored coop/run door. The hawk flew up off the ground when i got out there but stayed in a tree just above me while i checked the girls. It was 15 feet away and 15 feet up the tree looking at me...
Not broody, sick. I know about bugs and use permethrin 13.3. I did a bug check on all my birds two months ago and deep clean the coop. That included spraying every inch with 13.3.
My 9 month old buff's comb is pail white. I will look her over good in the morning. She was sitting the nest when i collected the eggs tonight. I treat the coop regularly with permethrin. I'm not thinking bugs.
large run until you get a farm dog. Pyrenees, yes or the old southern white farm dog. AKA Scott America Bulldog. They are very popular in FL as hog and cattle dogs. unlike the pitbull these are family and animal friendly" farm" working guard dogs.
its also not knowing/using proper building techniques . Putting two 2x4s together without using wall plates, corner posts and other construction codes will set up failure, Not the nails you use. Again, screws hold down and can sheer if used to "hang" load bearing timber. I'm not pulling this...
ahh no, nails must be used to "hang"wood. Screws are brittle and can shear easy so use nails to hold wood that is loaded "AKA" hung.
you can screw wood down as what the wood is sitting on carries the load not the "fastener" AKA nail or screw.
Nails hold just fine and if needed, use ring shank...
I only put plastic on one side of my open air coop/run. The northside to block the winter gail wind and rains. That allows enough air movement to dry the floor and not be damp. all you need is a wind block not totally enclosed.
You want the 13.3 Martins permethrin from TSC.
Mix 1oz per gallon water.
My "dip" is 3 gallons of warm water in a 5 gallon bucket with 3 1/2 oz of permethrin. The next day i dip the bird in a bucket of antifungal /antimicrobial soapy water. (protech mane & tail medicated). The next day i rub...
DE is not that good at anything and cause health issues. 13.3 permethrin will take care of this and mites, lice ... spray it everywhere. On the birds, nest box, roost...
We are wet most of the time on the coast so...
Large pine shaving from TSC is what i use. I use them in the nest boxes and after a month i dump them on the floor. Keeps the dust down and i rake it out every 3-4 months and use it to cover poop on the compost pile.
