    NorthFlchick, I know I hope more surprises pop up! As long as there good surprises. Mamabokbok, My girls keep planting tomatoes all over my yard too and they love eating there fruit they usually get them before me, apparently humans are not the only ones who like to garden.

    Yah, I think your right torilovessmiles it looks like an ornamental gourd and it probably did come in the mulch, maple trees keep popping up all over my garden and there aren't any maples around were I live! I plain to use them as decorations for thanksgiving along with some pumpkins I've grown...

    It came up on its own in my garden and I've looked all over the Internet trying to find it but I just keep banging my head against the wall! I put mulch in my garden during the spring that I got from the leaf dump so I'm guessing maybe that's were it came from. Can any of you identify it?

    He acts completely normal, still eats and drinks hasn't lost any Wight. I don't have the money to send him to a vet. And how often can I give him apple cider vinegar and should I be giving it to his mate? I'd really like to try and avoid antibiotics, but if that's what it takes I'm willing.

    What's wrong with my duck he's been fine until today, I saw his eye this morning while I was feeding the him and the chickens. His eye is sunk in and watering and also bubbly he also has a bump on the under side of his bill on the same side his bubbly eye is.

    I agree with Silvery17, Breaking there neck is the least gruesome and most gentle way to do it. Im So sorry for your loss.

    Then it's most likely an injury from being attacked. I think she'll be fine I've seen way worse, chickens are amazing healers, I wouldn't worry about it. Hope she gets better soon.

    hen with a scabby patch-- need advice

    Can you post some pics. It sounds to me like frost bite, which they usually get it on there heads because that's where their most exposed and you said it's really cold so that might be the case. I know with cow there frost bite looks like giant patches of scabs.

    From the photo it looks kind of purple, it might a Bruise. I've seen bruises on my chickens that kinda look like that.
