Most humane way to put down a suffering bird :(

My about 7 month old bantam chicken was just diagnosed with Marek's desease . She hasn't moved and looks paralyzed, and looks in pain. I read online and realized that there was no cure for it, and many people recommended just putting her down. Her name is Luna and she is a loved family pet. My kids are extremely sad about this and don't want her to suffer at all. I do not want to butcher her or snap her neck or anything gruesome like that. Does anyone know a quick, peaceful, and gentle way to put her down?

I agree with Silvery17, Breaking there neck is the least gruesome and most gentle way to do it.

What about taking her to a vet to be put down? Probably expensive, but at least it would be quiet.

Yeah, that's what I did with my girl, who had Egg Yolk Peritonitis.

It cost me $60 Australian, but the relief in knowing she just went to sleep quietly made it worth every cent.
