Roo or hen? Corrected & figured it out ;)

Well, today a neighbor came over and we were enjoying the sights of the flock and he crowed. Its decided. My soft hearted animal friends have all been notified and have a week to find him a home. Posts have been made. Otherwise he will be soup.

    New coop and run

I don't ever leave them locked up and the run is 10x10. They only go in to roost and sleep. My math has worked for my personal case because they have yet to have a real issue between each other. I have no problem culling a bully. I didn't have to yet though. Which my vegetarian soft hearted...

    New coop and run

    New coop and run

Im about to give them a third. One likes to lay on the floor. So far there have been no issues of fighting. A couple may lay theirs in the woods. But I dont really mind.

    New coop and run

17 chickens are comfy and tucked in. I was a little worried about the coop being too small, but it works really well with multi tiered roosts.

Official BYC Poll: How do you keep your flock warm in the winter?

I seem to have the same conversation with my husband every year. He is not used to livestock keeping and wants to put heat lamps with the chickens. To me, they present a fire hazard and also make the hens more sensitive to the cold once they leave the lamp area. I have a small coop without a...

    Serama roosters for flock

The very large one in my profile pic is gone now, because he was just too big with the toddlers and some very normal aggression starting at around a year. We switched over to the little seramas that were hand raised by a sweet lady and are being handled everyday to hopefully remain super...
