    Soft egg laying under roost

She's a nice girl! We have some of those. A watched pot never boils as they. Maybe don't worry about it so much. She'll get to it in her own time, as ours did.

    Soft egg laying under roost

Yes I was talking to you. Sorry should have made it clear. I know many use eggshells, BUT I can't count how many times people said their chickens started eating their own eggs. Nearly impossible habit to break. I'd stop giving them, seeing as you only have the one with soft ones. It should change.

    Soft egg laying under roost

Do you leave grit AND oyster shell in with them? I had a couple of soft ones when our hens were starting out, but it normally(with given the proper things)fixes itself. Sorry, but I don't agree with egg shell. It's not that pricey to get the oyster shell & grit.

In summer I mainly Deworm them with whole, raw pumpkins. Including the seeds. The seeds get the worms.

Whole Corn Vs Cracked Corn, What do you use?

I only use cracked corn and only feed it in the winter, as an additive to the regular feed. Or rather, as a daily snack, IF it's super cold out. Farmers in my area, including myself, have known for many years to give corn in the winter to help keep animals warm. A lab can't prove anything when...

Review by '' on item 'DuMOR® Poultry Layer 16% Crumble'

I had our girls on this from pullet age. Later I decided to try out RKO's country road crumbles. They wouldn't hardly touch it! Plus, even when they decided they had to eat it, egg production went way down! We're back on Dumor layer crumbles. I don't feed pellets because of the simple reason...

Pine and Cedar shavings are dangerous

So sorry you lost one. I have always wondered if they'd eat shavings but was lucky and none of mine did. I use shaving I get from up the road at a small business. He never uses toxic type woods so I use it for my chickens and horse. Thankfully haven't had a problem.

Getting pullets to sleep on the roosting bar?

Maybe explain a bit more so we know what to say. Are they staying in when it's hot IN the coop? Do they normally come out?

    Ivermectin.....paste?

Some people can't afford that price all at once, AND have nobody to "share" with. So personally l'm alittle offended. I am on less than a fixed budget right now and most should realize not everyone can afford what they can. That's no reason to think people shouldn't have their chickens. Things...

    Soft egg laying under roost

I get Grit at the TSC or RKO farm stores. A big bag lasts forever. I keep it in a feeder that hangs on the wall and they take as they need it. The same with oyster shell. I give layer crumbles and oyster shell at laying age.

    Growing fodder for chickens

How about alfalfa or mung bean spouts. I have grown them for our salads for years and they're super easy to grow. Or rice.

How Much DE (Diatomaceous Earth) Should I Feed My Chickens

I only use it on the floor of the coop and wherever they dig holes outside, to dust in. I never feed it to them.
