We have a feed mill about 5 mins from us,layer feed is $8.75 a bag for stuff they mill but, it's corn with some powder(soybean I think) and they pick out the corn and leave the powder so I do not get as many eggs.
My birds eat a Layer crumble that is milled here in Ohio but, they have dealers...

There's an Ohio milled brand? Please tell me where!

About five years ago we lost all 30 some of our 3 day old chicks in one night. They were all carried off from the cage they were in inside the chicken house, into one nesting box in a big heap. The next day thinking it was a rat or weasle we put out tons of traps, the next day we had a flying...
I do not like TSC feeds or Purina feeds, I feed mine an Ohio milled brand called performance feed. I pay $9.75 a bag. Our feed mill makes a layer feed for 8.75 a bag but, its corn with some soybean meal and they do not lay as well on it.
I love Kent feed but, its over $12 a bag and I feed a...
If she went down fast it may be Polio or Listeriosis. Do her eyes look ok? any drooling? both Polio and Listeriosis can look like Entertoxemia.

Our fair and most in Ohio show the Cornish X. We have know weight rules but, need one. some of the kids chickens at six weeks old are the size of ours at two weeks, without and feathers but, pinfeathers. Thats is downright abuse. Then they take there 1lb no feather bird and sell it for...
Leave the lights on. I know of someone who had ten and was feeding a 27.5% tuckey starter all the way till fair and the all ten lived with know leg problems. I have 15 that are two weeks old today and eating a 30% game bird feed, all 15 are looking great know leg problems.
If you have no maximum weight rules feed a game bird or turkey starter for the first three weeks then go with a broiler feed that is made for show birds with 22 to 24% protein and 4 to 5% fat. Honor by Purina makes a good one. Leave the lights on all the time 24/7. Put the feed and water at the...
I am getting my Cornish x meat birds for the state fair Thurday. And am needing a little help. After the first three days I am going to take the feeders out at night, giving them back in the morning. With having a heat lamp for heat the first two weeks at night with know feed make them eat the...
For 4-H start them on a Turkey starter for three weeks then go with a 22% broiler feed that has stuff for good yellow pigment, judges like that. we leave the lights on 24/7 and never have lost more then 10% of ours, a judge said that the lights on is a must.
For a bath we like Quic Silver...
Would a Cornish x be feathered out by six weeks, or be under seven lbs at seven weeks? we are going to be showing at the Ohio state fair and they can not be over seven lbs and we need a pin of four.
They look like boer cross. The little black and white one is NOT healthy. She looks like she may have coccidiosis, dewormers will not help that.
