"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

Update on my eggs! (Day 7 Candle). 17 Buff Orpington out of 21. 2 Cochin Bantam out of 3. 1 Barred Rock Bantam out of 2. The ones I pulled out were clear so maybe they were just infertile! Didn't do an eggtopsy.

    Best incubator for duck eggs?

If you want an incubator that you can "set and forget" I would go with the 1502 GQF Sportsman Cabinet Incubator! It will hold plenty of eggs and it is digital.

@jrc85I hope he is. I got him for free and was told he is 2 1\2 years old. Yes my wife and kids sang old red when picking his name. I have a 5 or 6 year old Barred Rock Bantam rooster that still gets the job done!

Yes I have calibrated and I incubate to much! Haha! I just got this incubator but my last was a Little Giant 9200 and I would always have 100% hatch rates after learning the incubator.

I hope I can join this Hatch-A-Long even though I set my eggs 5 minutes ago in the incubator! 26 eggs: 21 Buff Orpington, 3 Black Cochin Bantam, 2 Barred Rock Bantam! P.S, when I took this picture the temperature was still coming back up to normal.

    Starting A Small Breeding/Hatching Business

Hi everyone! I am thinking about starting a small chicken breeding/hatching business as a small hobby. I would be breeding Buff Orpingtons and Barred Rock Bantams, hatching their eggs in my incubator and then selling the chicks. My bird's are NPIP certified. Anyone have any pointers? Thanks!

    Chickens get too expensive

Put them on a feeding plan, feed them once everyday and let them find the rest of their food or pull up grass, weeds, etc. And throw in their pen to scratch at and eat!
