I forgot to mention, if i go with a differnt setup or one of the girls does not feel motherly, i will buy chicks and raise them the same way i did the eggers.
I currently have 6 EE girls and was thinking of trying some meat birds (6) this year. Before I go and build a whole new setup for the meaties, i was wondering if I ordered some hatching eggs, will one of my girls do all the hard work for me and raise them as her own? My current set up is a 4x8...
Most wire that is used for wiring a house is made for in the walls. It is not UV resistant and will turn brittle very fast. It is best to pay a little more now. They do make wire that is rated for direct bury in the ground and if you have sandy soil this would work well too.
Great pictures! I have an EE rooster that looks simular but, comb turned red at 4 weeks, at 7 weeks his comb is fuller than the one you pictured. My guess is pullet just based on comparing the two.
