Update on April. This Sunday would be 3 weeks later than what originally thought her due date was. She is showing promising signs now. Bag starting to fill, puffy vuvla, and a small amount of discarge. It's looking like I may be seeing some babies very soon!
Still nothing new. I will update when she finally does pop them out. I hate finding a thread and then never seeing the outcome. Today is day 154, if nothing happens within a week I will know she was just caught on her following cycle
My he s didn't get with the program until they were a little older. Then something just clicked for them and they started getting up on the perch. They might just be a little young still. Best idea would be to go out at night and put them up on the perch to help teach them.
ok, I was wondering how fast they could go. I plan on checking on her around 10pm and if no change, then I'll head out in the early morning when it's time to feed the chickens lol
Still no big changes today 151. I do notice that her ligands feel just a littler more, flexible? Maybe that's the word I'm looking for. Instead of them feeling like hard pencils they have a little bit of "give " to them. Ugh. Hopefully I see some major changes soon. Baby/babies are still...
Thank you for the advice! Today is day 150, no signs yet. Maybe a little bit softening of the ligaments but not much. She did get super friendly though when I fed her, kept rubbing he head on me, which is out of character for her. We will see what happens!
She is 5, and when i got her she was milking so I'm sure she has had babies before. Still no milk bag, tomorrow is her due date. Looking like I might have penned her up a month early. I'll update either way. Any tips are appreciated
Hi everyone! So I've been out of the goat business for years, but last summer I was given the opportunity to get a small herd started. 2 registered dairy does in milk for 25$ apiece ( sanaan is named April, lamacha is named Daisy), and a free blue eyed Nigerian dwarf buck (Borris). In August, my...
I actually didn't know my screen name was already used for a blog. I didn't know until i had been using it for a few months on different sites. Here I thought I was being creative but nope lol
I don't think that sounds like a problem. It sounds more like you are just getting some nice jumbo eggs. Unless your hen is having trouble actually passing them then I don't see a problem.
I'm trying to wait to crack it until my husband is home, I know he will want to be there haha! although the suspense is eating away at me lol. I'm quite impressed with my little hen.
Our one buff mix hen just laid this monster egg. She is just sitting in the nest box trying to revive herself haha. Its huge! White egg is a store bought one for comparison. She just started laying about a week ago, the first eggs were normal, this one is triple sized
It can make them fat lol fat hens don't lay well. But if it'd only for awhile and not all year it's ptob OK. Just still offer their layer feed and calcium on the side.
You don't need it, they should be fine. But if they are laying hood and you turn off the light suddenly they might stop. I offer about 14 hours of light total and its working for me. But they don't need a light 24/7.
