Thanks for all the replies. It appears that the mottled Ameraucana project birds mentioned over on ABC are black with white? Could not find any pics after searching there. The shape of the black spots on the brabanter seem to be closest to my hen's (love the crest too!). Will try posting...
I have been searching this thread for any mention of black mottling or speckles (?) on wheaten, and I found a pic on page 1138 but not much info. I don't know exactly what to call this (other than a DQ :-)), but I was hoping someone might have some insight into the genetics behind it. The...

LOL, I don't think it will take you long to find what you are looking for with this group!
Excellent! I've never tried to find banties before, so I didn't really know how many local people have them. Yay!

Lotsa breeders around. I have an excess of bantams that could use a home, but you gotta take a roo too!!
Darn, I wish I could, but she's living in the city so no roos. Would need to rehome any that she ends up with. Unless they were bantam W/BW Ams, then I might have to build...
Any AZ bantam breeders here on BYC? I am trying to procure some bantams for my sweet grandmother, hopefully within the next few months or so. She is interested Japanese, Seramas, Ameraucanas or Araucanas. I could possibly talk her into some really cute EE's or Belgian D'Anvers. I am looking...
I'm just curious...what color offspring would result from breeding a splash roo to wheaten hens? I realize that the resultant chicks would be EEs. Just curious.
Also, what is the difference between splash and blue splash? Are they both a whitish base color with the diffence being the color of...
These are a little over 3 weeks old. The lighter chick is slightly smaller than the others, and none of them have any comb development yet. They would NOT stand still for normal pics! Thanks for any guesses on sex and color (W, BW or SW).

I'm sorry but in my opinion she needs to be taken to a veterinarian or euthanized at home. With the eye issue and whatever is going on internally, she is most certainly suffering.
ETA: I do not believe that it is possible for the average person to alleviate her suffering & fix her at home.
So not knowing how long temps have been so low, do you think there's any hope? This is day 6, and all I see when candling is what looks like a yolk. I've read all the candling threads and have a really good flashlight (surefire), but I just can't be sure of what I'm seeing. Looks like just a...
Thanks guys. My DBF used this same thermometer last year successfully, so I figured it would work.
Eggs seemed too cold, even though it was reading 101. I put another thermometer in the same spot and it's reading 86
Thanks for the advice! I will now take the GQF and stomp on it and smash...
Has anyone had major problems with this thermometer? It is the kind attached to the clear plastic card that you just set on top of the eggs.
I am a bit in shock right now, but it seems that this thermometer that I've been using for the past 6 days might be up to 15 degrees off!
Anyone else...
I think the dark one could definitely be a hatchery-quality Barnevelder. I have one from Ideal that has worse doulble-lacing than her (and one from the same hatch that has better, go figure).
My hens get romaine almost every day, since we buy it by the case for our reptiles. When I first started feeding it to them, i tore each leaf up into little bit-sized pieces, convinced they were too delicate to eat it any other way;) I finally got tired of doing that, and now just throw a...
