Understanding the Celadon egg and how it relates to adult quail color

Check with people on Facebook pages, Coturnix Breeders of America, United coturnix breeders and producers. They discuss their celedon hatches regularly. And, yes, there are several colors of birds that lay and hatch from these eggs.

takeing a trip to orlanda florida on march the 10

Are you driving down 10? I have one hen that just turned 3. She is a favorite of my husband. But if she were going to a good loving home he would consider letting her have a good life. She is a buff and full of personality. She lays reliably nearly every day, but has never been broody.

    Quail eye...

I have always used an human eye drop with boric acid for eye problems. I keep a couple of different formulations on hand and use them for my dogs and all my birds. Quail have all kinds of eye issues from pecking and cage conditions. I often find a good eye drop at dollar stores. Not the...

    Is there hope?

Yes, it does look like a hip. I fixed a few chicks and the recovery was very quick. some of those chicks didn't make it. YouTube has great videos. I had trouble with wire pipe cleaner techniques.

    Quail Coop

My quail are in my old layer house. I use the old brooder for both quail and chicken chicks. My juvenile chicken pens west side is 10' feet from the longest wall of the quail house. All of my older chicken structures are 15' and more away from the quail house. None of my quail have become...

    Is there hope?

There are lots of videos and threads showing toe, foot and leg splints. I have had a few hatch with hip displacement and was unable to fix most of them and had to cull chicks. Good luck and happy new year.

    Help needed with quail dying

Just a thought..they may be dying from obesity or related issues. A year old with lower protein and corn diet? When I have processed my older coturnix they have more fat and sometimes organs are enlarged. Kidneys and ovaries enlarged. Some have cysts on kidneys. And I feed mine a 28% game...

I need lots of help. very new to this.

Keep researching! Quail! Cortunix, Jumbo pharaohs are amazing birds. Are an efficient and low cost way to grow your own protein. Cornish hens are cornishxrock hybrid. A fast growing chicken that eat a lot and are butchered young. Quail are poop machines!! They sometimes drop dead after...

    Shinto Dragon Jumbo Coturnix Project

I bought colorful melon zip ties from Lowe's to leg band my birds. I have seen others do it with clear, black, yellow and red. That might be a good solution for you too. I would prefer subtler colors but the neon colors fade and it is incredibly easy to spot each bird's leg band.

Can you hatch eggs from older chickens?

I'm interested in opinions too. I have had older silkies and cochin silkie crosses lay and hatch out chicks that are fine. I have some older 3&4 year old Wheaten Ameraucana hens and a year old lavender wheaten rooster that I would love to breed in late spring. I plan on feeding them higher...
