Injured New Chick - What do I do?

Thank you! You don't think that, in feeling for breaks, I may separate the ends of the bone, if a break exists? The little thing is SO little! I should have said that it is half "California White," and half Modern Game Bird. Mom is the game bird, and boy, is she a lunatic! She is Not...

Injured New Chick - What do I do?

Oh, now that is very good information! Thank you! Fortunately, mine is nice and old. :)

    Random Blindness

If it is the same, dry cob is not just corn; it is a mix of grains. Here is TSC's version, with ingredients at the bottom.

Injured New Chick - What do I do?

Well, ok. Fair enough. I guess it's hard to advise, with so little to go on. So, here is my proposed strategy: clean the area, which likely will include the whole chick, because it is so teeny, in Dawn and salt water (very mild), blow it dry, and wrap it, gently but firmly, with trimmed vet...

    Sick Olive Egger

Yes. Canker is the name I couldn't think of. Thank you! I had read that Aspergillosis sometimes caused white nodules in the mouth or throat. No? But, then, I had also read that it is untreatable, which is untrue. I don't know whether canker is different ... I guess it must be? I just know...

    Sick Olive Egger

Any sign of white stuff in her mouth or throat? I'm drawing a blank on the name, but there is a fungal infection that can narrow breathing tubes, and eventually suffocate birds. Copper sulfate is the remedy. Someone will know the name of the condition?

Why is this chick growing so fast???

I bought ten Cornish x, not realizing what they were. The one that lives the longest did not quite make a year. What a heartbreaking ordeal that was. I still cringe every time I hear the phrase "meat bird." I may have to go vegetarian if they keep doing this kind of thing. I just don't want...

    What have I created?

My word. That is the cutest bird I think I have ever seen. Absolutely fabulous!

Injured New Chick - What do I do?

I feel suddenly like a total newbie! I have not had a wounded chick before, and am terrified. I don't even have any vet wound supplies, except vet wrap, on hand. My hen was sitting on "infertile" eggs. Our rooster was not old enough to do the job! Had never even crowed! Then, two eggs...

my lesson: feed my chicks earth worm(red wigglers)

I know just how that is! I have decided, at least five times, never to raise chicks again. Then, I forget. They die so easily, and it breaks my heart each time! I am sorry that you feel this too. Hang in there!

Not an "Emergency," but could sure use advice

Hello! I am trying very hard to save my little chocolate orpington chick. About a month, or perhaps a little longer, ago, I bought seven chicks from our local farm supply. They were four black copper marans, and three chocolate orpington. Up until a week ago, they were all doing very well...

Ducks and Chickens - Different Beneath Their Fancy Linens?

I hope so! They are in distant Colorado, while I am in California. My daughter-in-law, however, is far more attentive, diligent and precise than I have ever been, even at my best. Last I heard she was awaiting my son's assistance to hold the bird, so that she could get a proper look at the...

Ducks and Chickens - Different Beneath Their Fancy Linens?

Hello! My son and his beautiful little family have ducks. Today, one was attacked. She was rescued, but has a wound on her wing. I sent my daughter-in-law links to a couple of relevant threads from this forum. However, there are MANY more threads addressing attack wounds on the primary...

Ok. So, I get too attached. I can admit that. Need ideas anyway.

Yes. That's the idea exactly. I have had to settle for just letting them out to be with me whenever I am home and at my leisure. They don't really give me much choice, as the moment they see me they begin to shriek, until I go get them. I suppose that I am setting myself up for the future...

Ok. So, I get too attached. I can admit that. Need ideas anyway.

I wish I were a more quiet sleeper! I'm one who sweeps the nightstand clean each night. That is a great thing! If only it heated up! My mom gave a wind up alarm clock wrapped in a towel to the kittens we had when I was little. It did actually seem to make them happy!

Ok. So, I get too attached. I can admit that. Need ideas anyway.

I have tiny chicks from the local farm supply store. It tears at my heart how they all get so happy, and fall asleep immediately, when I let them snuggle under my chin, with a T-shirt over them. I can just feel how they are longing to be under their mom. I am the closest they can get. Once...
