I looked up that very question when Wyorp Rock and Isaac 0 explained about the Ascites. Apparently, it's not an illness or disease, it's a condition. And it's perfectly safe to eat. Do you guys agree?

Why are my meat birds dying? (GRAPHIC)

I had them on the starter feed for the first three weeks, then switched to layer for the last two weeks, and next week is their last week until butcher. One of my mistakes was that when they were then tall enough to reach the hens feed I just stopped with the starter feed and made everything the...

Hm... I looked up the yellow liquid and it talked about an enlarged heart too here: http://www.omafra.gov.on.ca/english/livestock/poultry/facts/13-063.htm I wonder if this is what happened?

Well the butcher date is what it is - it can't be moved. You have to make the appointment six weeks in advance. BUT! I do give them all oyster shells. They get butchered next weekend... so do you think changing the feed now will make a huge difference? They have one week left.

They are in with the layer hens. So, instead of the layer hens not getting enough calcium, we feed them all the layer rations. Any suggestions?

Insides. It was FULL of this yellow liquid that didn't appear to come from me puncturing anything... The heart looked fine? The lung and heart were bigger than I expected, but I've never dissected a meat bird before just a layer. Feet looked fine. One toe top was missing because it was injured...

Why are my meat birds dying? (GRAPHIC)

I bought Cornish Cross Broilers. Started out with 26 and in about 5 weeks I am down to 18. One died when they were babies, they all had pasty butt within the first weeks and it was suffering so I relieved its pain. Three died about a couple weeks later. No idea why. Just found them on their...

    Lakeshore Eggers?

I have two Lakeshore Egger layers from Meyer's. They are friendly to me and my preschooler, but are at the top of the hierarchy of my flock.

Thank you to everyone for all your advice! Some of what has been said is a little over my head, but I am sure a feed store could help me figure it out. @Kiki is going to find me one and I'll call them or drive over and tell them I'm a complete newb and need to be talked to like a baby. :D I'm...

Alright. Anyone use Chewy? I've heard great things for dogs... but not sure for chicken feed? In a few weeks I am getting baby chicks (first time ever raising chickens). Should I feed 'em this or this... or neither? https://www.chewy.com/browns-encore-natural-chick-starter/dp/122345...
