Hen seems to be having difficulty laying . . .

I have a two year hen that's been a reliable layer until recently when I noticed a change in behavior. She now sits all the time as if she wants to lay but nothing happens; she isn't as active and her gait is slower and more deliberate when she walks. I examined her vent to find it protruding. I...

    Is my Hen sick?

I isolated her in the garage and noticed that her poop is clear, watery, and has what appears to be egg yolk in it. I'm giving ACV for today and then some yogurt tomorrow. I also noticed her wattle and comb are darker/redder than usual.

For the past two days we noticed one of our hens (black partridge cochin) seems to be isolating herself from the others. She stands in one place with her eyes periodically closing then opening again. She didn't even respond when I threw some corn scratch out. When she moves it is very slow. She...

How do I revive my hen from heat exhaustion and dehydration

Quote: In an emergency situation you want to get the temperature close to normal quickly, but you are right that it's not a good idea to leave ice packs actually touching the bird . Otherwise, you can have the packs close enough to cool the air around the bird for a good while. Larry I learned...

Nice new neighbors.... *****UPDATE******* Page 4

Someone mentioned cayenne paper as a deterrent. Isn't that stationary paper and how exactly does that work? I also remember reading here that lion urine deters foxes. I wonder if it would work on dogs?
