    I have motion detector sprinklers at my gardens and that keeps the chickens out of my garden for the most part- that way I don't need to fence in the garden and can still let the chickens free range. Before we had the sprinklers, they ate everything in the garden.....and they loved the tomatoes!

    I believe they are like White Leghorns in egg production- they are laying a very dark brown egg- almost like a Marans would lay:) Each of them are laying every day since they began. Most of their eggs are medium size yet, although 3 are very large already.

    My girls started laying on the 21st- at 3 days shy of 20 weeks old- 3 layed in 1 day! I have 10 and they all started laying within the same week- Between my 2 2 1/2 year olds, I am getting 11-12 a day! Wow!! I have Isa Browns. Some of them still don't squat by the way.....

    That is a very reasonable amount- Our 12 chickens are going through a 40 lb. bag about every 10-14 days or so....They eat more than you think!

    I'm also seeing a lot of feathers on the coop floor- although no one has bare patches on them- could they be molting and that could be reducing egg production? Guess I'm not too sure what molting looks like either.....
