I got some gorgeous yellow Modena pigeons and kept them in quarantine and one died today with worms coming out of it's mouth. I found her dead that way.
So I need to treat them all plus my own flock.
I put diatomaceous earth on the food. Should I use just that or wormer also?
Should I wait on...
I am pairing up and looking at a possible purchase that might pair with some of mine.
A male bronze split to cream Modena pigeon with a female yellow Argent Gazzi???
Silver dun?? Anything else?
A blue mag male with a female bronze.
Brown mags?? Anything else?
Thanks anyone who can help...
I have two five year old RR mixes and pigeons live with them completely peaceful. The only thing I do is feed the pigeons from a bunny coop so that the chickens cannot get their food. Everyone is enclosed in a 50 x 13 aviary where the birds can fly easily but no hawks can get them.
Wow this interests me. How much do the squab weigh when you take them for food? I am raising pigeons just for fun but it would also interest me alot to add some for meat as then it pays for itself. :) I garden and have chickens. Providing home grown food is a good thing. Right now all my...
Hi, I just got some modena pigeons and am new to them
.
I showed pictures on a facebook group and someone thinks they are the old style modena, not the show ones.
They are a bit bigger then my homers.
Then I spoke to another person who states the old style ones are smaller then the homers...
If babies disappear it is usually a fatality because homers should come home. That being said, I have a homer here that lost it's way and someone found it. It stayed on her farm but she didn't want to care for it, so he or she lives here now. She can't get out of my aviary and I don't free fly...
I have solid white homers and am trying to get fantails also. My main homer breeding pair is separated and the rest are in the large aviary out back.
I have two fantail males right now. One is black and one is red or brown.
The black one bred with one of my white female homers and both...
I am going to get white fantails out of that crossing? OMFREAKING GOSH! I want those! lol. I was afraid I would get spotted cows. The boys are not spotted but I thought if you mix up a black/grey bird with a white bird, you would get a mixed colored mess.
I went out to feed chickens and pigeons today and found one of my summer babies outside the aviary. Yup you guessed it, I found a hole. In the corner.
I could not catch him and didn't know how he was going to get back in. Certainly he wasn't going back in that little hole.
So I had to make a...
I feel blessed reading all this. I don't fly my birds except in the very large aviary that they live in. I love walking in there while they are flying around me. It is about 50 by 13 feet and covered entirely with heavy knotted aviary cloth. The fence has a light weight aviary net/ bird...
I don't know if fantails have any physical features you can sex them by, but the males groan more and the girls are quiet in all pigeons. The males will show mating behavior but since you have only one possible female, I don't know if her own baby would show that behavior or not.
I know...
Yes the fantails don't fly as well or as much as the homers. I wish we were close, they are so beautiful. I need females. Put little address labels on them and maps and send them here. hehe
Really? Do you have any photo's of what they might come out looking like? Thanks. We have two babies here a few days old that I can't wait to see what they bloom into. :) It will be like little Christmas presents to open. lol
That picture is of a fantail pigeon and yes absolutely gorgeous! I am looking for some in my area, Columbus Ohio and cannot find any. I have two males who would like girls. :)
