As long as the separation is under 2 weeks, they don't forget each other.
All I can say is the one I removed for her injuries is under constant attacks....mine was only in seclusion about 2 weeks, and they are after her constantly. Now maybe part of my issue is her being hurt, and as new as I...
Geez....do I seriously have an "S" on my forehead?????
Opened the coop up today to find all the ladies eating an egg. Okay I thought, maybe a soft shelled one and the lady just couldn't make it to the nest box....got as much as I could out of there.
Folding laundry and looked out, to see not...
no, I have not. Keep cheking the poop, and it all looks good. The others are getting more aggressive, as she is not getting better. Should I buy some wazine, and try it?
Here she is this afternoon....laying as she did all day, head under her wing
Tonight...on my lap...I apolgize, it was taken with my cell phone..
Her right eye....
same time, her left eye, again bad pics as it was my cell...
Could it be a stroke? So confused?????
Went to open the coop up(pop door), and she ran out of the people door as I entered, never goes far...so I left her alone.
I grabbed her up, and she melted into my arms. What is odd is her right leg is injured, and she can't keep her left eye open. I carried her for a while, and then came up to...
I have her in the coop, with her meds mixed in her treats. The others are locked out. She nibbled it, but then went to lay down. Closed her eyes and that was that.
I left her that way, so she could have some peace. The others have food and water outside, and it is a chilly day here. A 30...
My 6 month old NHR, that has been dealing with a leg injury, was recently introduced back into the flock. Not an easy task, and because she is still limping, she is always a target of being chased, or pecked. Nothing severe, but enough.
Her comb and wattles are still bright red, but today, she...
If you seperate her, be aware that the others will treat her as a new hen and will peck/chase her if she's reintroduced with them, especially if she's still limping.
This part I know 1st hand. Had mine seperated for 2 weeks, due to the same thing....limping, and it was her right leg. No sig of...

Moved her in the crate, outside the coop, for a few...
anyone? I am so lost...any help ??any suggestions.
She looks good! Bright red comb, watlles, but only got 5 eggs today when I have 6 hens. BUT, I worked an 11 hr day, so couldn't tell you didn't lay, maybe her.
She couldn't get up on the roost tonight, Had to put her up again.
ANY HELP ...
I have given my hen 3 doses so far, and she seems to be getting ALOT worse.....
I know it is stated that this med will worsen before it gets better, but how can I tell if it really is getting worse, or if the meds are actually doing what they are suppose too?
Also, how long should the "worse"...
OMG...I feel as if I am at work....LOL So much of that is sold at TSC...LOL
THANK YOU !!!! was going to post a questions of a 1st aid kit....you beat me to it....
from my little experience with chickens, I have read on here that the youngin's need to be about the same size as the others first.
Past this, as free range goes I have no advice...sorry. If it was an enclosed run, I am going through a similar situation, that I could offer some advice.
Good...
Thank you all.....
Today, I did what I did the last 2 days...opend up her night time crate, and the others acted as if she was there the entire time, no issues....
Let them out, and we had a tractor show to go to today about an hour out of town. Was concerned but let her stay out of the crate...
Can you provide any shelter, predator proof for her? I have read that the combs, and wattles are really targets of frost bite. Is she friendly enogh you can pick her up?
I really have little experience, but if she is freindly try to make a predator proof area, and try to keep her warm as she...
Well, almost back in to the flock!! I opened her nightime crate up, and they act as if she has been in the flock the entire time, so she goes about her business.
We had a tractor show we were going to today, was so leary of letting her alone while we were gone, but....came home and no blood...
