    Buy? Or Build? Heeeeellllllppppp!!

I am a newbie to chickens this year, as well. I bought a coop. Then I bought another coop because I got some pullets and had to slowly introduce them to the existing flock. Now I am building a coop that is more to my liking. As stated earlier, if you build it, then you can build it to your...

Help a rookie with her first winter (MN)! Pic heavy!

I picked up a couple of heaters for my coops from Tractor Supply. They're radiant heaters, so in my opinion better than a heat lamp. They can also be used as a brooder. It has a switch that will let you choose. These heaters can be mounted on the wall of your coop, or it can stand. Right...

    Chickens on top of coop

Mine do that, too. Im not too concerned about it. It does make a mess on the roof, so i have to clean it every few days. I have even tried making them higher roost spots but it didn't matter.

    Honking chicken

No. I will try to get one tomorrow and post it. She is a happy girl. Today she flew up into my lap and stayed there for about 10 minutes eating out of my hand and honking at any of the others that came over to me.

strong coop smell after heavy rains

There is a tarp over the top of the run. We had sideways rain that came in on one side. I couldn't get out to get another tarp to put on the side due to quarantine because my husband is having surgery tomorrow. I plan on picking up two more tarps to put on two sides of the run to help with...

strong coop smell after heavy rains

I clean my coop and run every week. This week we had a lot of rain and the smell is bad, even after I cleaned the coop and run. What can I do to take care of the odor? I don't want to upset my neighbors with a strong smell.

    Adding to my flock

Thank you for the advice. The new hens are here and are separated from the original flock. The OG flock is highly interested in these new girls and are very vocal. I have made more water and food areas. We are also going to make our run a little bigger with areas to hide in there. The new...
