Yeah it’s definitely closer to inbetween the legs. I’ve just applied some antiseptic so I might do that for a week or so and monitor it to see if it gets better or worse. Here’s a picture of her leg where you can see a bit of redness between the toes.
Ah thanks! this is a possibility. My chickens do tend to sleep in the nesting box rather than the perches. Usually 2 perching and 1 in the nesting box but they alternate. I don’t know much about bumble blisters. Is this something I can do at home? What if I just use antiseptic every day will...
Oh you mean her pecking herself from boredom? Maybe, they do have a good sized run and I do let them out to proper free range but not as often as I used to as they do make quite a mess! I was worried it was something more serious like cancer or something. I shall try some ointment, thank you :)...
I noticed this scabby lump on my chickens belly almost in the area between her legs. Any ideas on what it could be? The skin between her legs is all red and flaky as well. Had a quick google but couldn’t find anything? Anyone got any ideas? she’s a year and a half old. Acting completely fine...
Hmm she doesn’t seem to be showing symptoms of internal laying, ascites or cancer. I think the sour crop has gone. Just the weird lumps in crop and still not interested in eating normal laying crumbs. She is doing way better than she was 6 weeks ago so hopefully she keeps on getting better. I’m...
Thanks guys. She is only a year and a half... I let her out all day today and yesterday to free range. Crop was full as at night and pretty much empty in the morning except for a few tiny squishy lumps. I can’t work out what that might be. Small enough to pinch between thumb and finger. Haven’t...
ah thank you! I have been doing all of that but she isn’t interested in yoghurt so that’s why i went and bought some probiotics. I’m still doing the massages and she is still locked up. I sometimes let her out for a bit of a dig and dust bath because 5 weeks is a long time to keep a chicken...
I’ve had a chicken with an impacted crop that’s gone sour. It’s been about 5 weeks since the whole thing started. It used to be a tennis ball size and how it’s about the size of a golf ball and it is hard but still pliable at the same time. She’s lost a heap of weight and is very particular...
Hi guys! My chicken Matilda has been having crop issues for about 8 days now. I noticed when she was pooping basically nothing but water and her crop was bulging. I thought it was an impacted crop so I isolated her and stopped feeding her and I added Apple cider vinegar to her water. 2 days ago...
Hi guys! I know this is an old thread but I’m dealing with a similar issue and would really love some advice right now. My chicken Matilda has been having crop issues for a week now. I noticed when she was pooping basically nothing but water and her crop was bulging. I thought it was an impacted...
Thank you! I really do ❤️ this has been so hard for me. This morning though I kneeled down in the bathroom with her and she came over and jumped in my lap for pats, she’s never done this before! And she did it 2 more times after that. My heart melted!
Alright thanks guys! I’ll get to the shop when they open. It’s 7:30 am here. Discos crop is EMPTY! It’s a miracle. I have her her pills with a tea spoon of yoghurt. I tried to mix her layer crumble with water but she’s not interested. All she wants to eat is eggs and yogurt. Will try to mix the...
If left disco alone in the bathroom to get some sleep, it’s 11pm now. Thank you everyone for your help! It’s been so great to talk to people that have chickens and understand these things. I’m off to bed too but will report back in the morning

Can definitely see black dots all through her feathers but more so by the tail. Is the treatment for mites and lice the same product. I’ll ring the store I buy my feed and other medicine from in the morning and see what he’s got in stock. Then I’ll go get some.
Wow okay I can see black dots through my chickens white feathers but not like in the photos on that link!! They’re bad but not THAT bad. I would say the mites look like the picture in figure d) fluff louse?
Mites have been going on for maybe 2 weeks. I was dusting with DE every few days but no change. They are relatively bad now but I wouldn’t say infested. I will get some powder tomorrow morning. The mites are on the chickens all the time. Not the kind that hide in the coop and come out at night...
YES!!! The molting is INSANE right now. Been going on for about 2 weeks. She also has mites which I was treating with DE but have seen no results. They’re getting worse but this problem has become priority so have not been to get proper mite powder yet..
I read the articles but am still unsure of weather it’s impacted or sour. I can’t smell anything but it is quite mushy. Deffs not hard.
It’s not worms and she had coccidiosis as a 9 week old so it can’t be that.
I with held food all day but when I gave her the yogurt to try and help, she...
